A while back I got behind a Prius with some guy texting away.
I had to clear the left turn arrow on the yellow light when he paused in the intersection.

He did that on the next two intersections. He held up traffic on both intersections.

By the fourth intersection, I tapped the horn to wake him up.
He pulled through the intersection deliberately slow and left me to wait out another light cycle.

My hatred of texters and Prius drivers was accelerated. :bashhh:

Very sad that a selfish texter took out 13 seniors returning from a great retreat trip.

I learned that texting and driving is bad news ... got lucky twice with a couple of fender bumps in traffic with no damage. It's one of those things (like social media) that is a much bigger danger than people originally gave it credit for.

I would have a set years ago but no where to put the air bottles, so we need some electric horns or something compatible.

Remember a plain cell phone worked just fine. Now people sit at a dinner table and just stare into a screen and text. INCREDIBLE!!

Text messaging, (SMS) started in 1992. It was commercially available in 94, and I remember using it in high school which would be 2000 at the latest. (Yes, I'm not that old).

Smart phones are much newer by comparison. I agree, we all used to survive just fine with out it, but now that we have it we have to adapt. Again I am not for texting and driving, it is very dangerous. I am just showing how it can so easily enter into the driving scenario. Smart phones during family dinner time should always be a no no. I try to avoid when eating dinner, but if someone else pulls one out I will follow because I'm not going to sit there twittling my thumbs while they are distracted. Though if its just two of us I sometimes sit and stare to make them realize we are both here haha.

We also survived just fine before the internet.

I find the damn adults are as bad or worse than the teenagers.

When I conduct meetings, standard practice at the start is everyone has to put their phones face down in front of them on the conference table.
They go nuts not being able to respond to the steady stream of bullshit alert tones for email and texts.

ITS NUTS!! Its almost like people are afraid to man up to a face to face conversation, even voice on a phone.

It incredible that people have learned to communicate in this method. NUTS!!!!!!!

You are right. We should "band" texting. Carrier pigeons would be safer.

Call me a Luddite, but I still use a flip phone. But, I've slowly warmed up to the camera aspect. Texting? Screw it.

I don't care what you do stopped at a major intersection. Just be ready to go when it turns green. And no not that weak attempt to start going like so many do now accelerating at a snails pace while you still stare at the phone.

We should migrate to euro style lights. They work so much better. When they are red, the yellow light appears with the red to warn you that the light is about to turn green. Then it goes all green.

But try explaining that to stupid Americans.

that would be worse than those flashing yellow lights on school bus's that appear a mile before they slow and throw the stop sign, no thank you.
