Default Masters, Gate opening! 7 or 8 Update!

Have now checked 5 sources, all telling me different gate opening times.

Is it 7am or 8am ?

Yes, have checked on the masters site as well, can find all info but when gates officially open to public.

Thanks

I was there two years ago, and they opened at 0700.

Last time I was blessed enough to win tickets was 2004, gates opened at 07:00 as well. Just read several sources this year is 8:00 which seemed odd.

Just thought if anyone knew for certain, without the guesswork. Guess I'll just leave my place by 01:00 am, early arrival is better then late.

I'll be out there tomorrow. I'll see if I can find out for sure from the source. Typically 7am as stated but tomorrow is 8am so I'll double check for practice rounds and tournament times

0700, but that's tournament days. I don't know about practice rounds.

Got it, praying for only light rain, no lightning.

Perfect, thank you. Leaving here so that we arrive at Augusta around 06:00am.

Praying that we can get at least a few hours in before any rains come. Don't think any Pro's will be out playing in the rain....unless the wknd calls for rain which I don't know.

In your opinion, what is the closest parking lot to the clubhouse area?

It's a long walk in from all parking. Get there at 6 and you should be good on Monday. They must have had 100 parking attendants out there today. Not much option on where to park. They direct you where they want you. If you haven't been out there since last year you will be amazed at the changes. If you haven't been out there in a few years you won't even recognize it. If you have never been then you simply need to go see it

Default Update:

For the record:

Parking........................Opens at 6:00am
Golf course..................Gates open at 08:00am
Merchandise shop......I believe open at 07:30am

What a magnificent piece of Heaven on earth!

Got to spend a few hours at Augusta yesterday, before mother nature shut her down at around 12:00 noon.

Simply one of the most breadtaking places I've ever had the pleasure of re-visiting, was there in 2004 when Phil won.

The Bride, my son and a good friend walked the entire course and had a blast!

I hung around the practice range and enjoyed watching the players hit balls. Spent 2 hours getting autographs, ( Hass, Scott, Spieth, VJ, Leachman, amount others), btw, VJ' s in love with himself..

Spent $470 on merchandise!!!......that's a lot for us!

Place was a complete zoo!!! I still cannot believe what a dramatic transformation the area around the course has undertaken. New buildings, parking areas, walkways, landscaping everywhere, truly dramatic.

Food was awesome!!!!

Cheese & pimento sandwich, Turkey and cheese, beers, all so good and all so cheap. The merchandise though was not inexpensive like it used to be. Shirts started at $69.00.

Got lots of photo's as well as great memories. The course was shut down due to wx right around noon, rain, lightning, strong winds. No complaints though, got to see and do most everything we all wanted,

Do to the wx, I was not able to make time to go see Kenny at the white... building, they're all white, to get a tour of the gate entry system, just not enough time because we knew the WX was going to shut things down and that had to take priority! Next time though, I would love to see that, looks amazing.

Thanks to ALL, who gave advise and directions, they were spot on perfect! Exactly 6 hours up, no wx, 7.5 hours back, heavy wx and rain.

A great and fun 18 hours!!!

Typed on my cell....apologize for spelling and gramer!

I understand it's golf's biggest tourney, but don't understand the "almighty" praise heaped upon it (and the experience) that many give it. The actual tournament is crowded and to uppity for me...

Glad you had a great time, though. I was also there when Phil first won (Sunday...3 rows back on the 18th green).

Somewhat understand your POV regarding the perception of high class uppidity folks as you put it, but IMHO that has not been the case!

Both in 2004 & 2017 we met and spoke with dozens of other patrons and all were friendly, courteous, and rather engaging.

For instance, at the par 3, 16th hole, the entire crowd, which was huge, were pleasantly and jokingly engaging with all participants chanting in unison....."Skip", it was really funny!

Many other moments like this during the short time we were there. IMHO, stuck up folks don't usually display this type of behavior.
