Default Indian "Windows Help Desk" scam calls - I am being bombarded

For the past few days I am getting like 5 a day. They are not robo so they come thru and the caller id suggests a real person. I am the contact person for my non-profit so I pick up more calls than I should.

Anybody else notice an uptick in these calls?

probably robo calls so they cannot determine that you were the one that effed with them.

I try to waste their time for a few minutes like I am doing what they ask before telling them to do something to themselves

When they tell you your computer has a problem, ask "which one, we have several". They'll probably say "Windows computer", respond "we have 20 of them. which one?" Then ask for the IP address. No matter what address they give, tell them that's not your computer, they should clean up their database and hang up.

That's basically what I did every time they called and they finally stopped about 6 months ago.

I just tell them I need to get that information, put them on hold and wait for them to hang up. Arguing is a waste of my time.

Right, set the phone down and walk away.

The ones that piss me off are when they spoof a local number. Now I can't even answer my phone for locals. Have to wait for a VM.

Had the same number for like 17 years and don't want to change it

i act flamboyantly gay... and ask questions like, "what do you look like with a swimsuit?" and "have you ever been to prison..." Its good for laughs.

Tell them it's turned off right now. Won't start up. Ask for help getting it started. Should I plug it in now? Where do I turn it on?? etc...
