I switched from the S7 to the S7 active. It's basically an S7, but far more rugged and a larger battery. My daughter's S7 with a slim armor case is the same size as my s7 active with no case (since it doesn't need one) but the battery difference is huge.

There was a recent OS update that more than doubled my S7 battery life. Weird but welcome.

Last Saturday I stopped by Best Buy just to take a look at the new S-8's. I ended up pre-ordering the S 8+. It is just a little bit bigger than my current LG Stylo 2 that I got when I switched from ATT to Sprint.

Pre-ordering the phone I got $150 off the list price or $750. I am also getting a "free" virtual reality head set with the phone by pre-ordering. Supposedly a $100 gift certificate from Samsung and another $50 from the company that makes the virtual reality "games" or whatever they call them.

Not sure how much I might use the virtual reality headset but it would be fun to try it out.

The LG Stylo 2 was free when I made the switch but my last phone was a Samsung Galaxy Note 4. The LG just does not compare. If you try to do two things at once on the LG it drops one of the functions you are on. The Samsung phones, at least the Note 4 and Galaxy S3 I had prior could handle multiple functions at the same time.

I was not really planning to upgrade at this time but the deal Best Buy was offering changed my mind.

The Galaxy S 8+ is a really nice looking phone and it has a 4K screen and the detailing of anything on the screen is amazing. Sharp and crystal clear. Should have the phone around or about April 21st. Looking forward to getting back into a Samsung phone.

It's a few problem apps that often consume most of your battery capacity. The newer OS versions are better at identifying these apps and putting them to sleep when not needed.

Wish the Android update had helped my battery life that much!
