He has the same motors. The boat came with a set of 23's and 24's but he isn't sure which ones are correct. He is only getting 1850 rpm's out of them on fresh motors and turbo's with 23's on it. I think you may have answered his questions. Thanks.

He can't have the same engines if his motors have turbos. The N stands for naturals. 671 with turbos will be something like 671Tib or similar.

I'm not a DD 671 expert but I thought they are supposed to spin up to 2300 rpm. If this is true and his engines only spin up to 1850, the props are way too large or there is something wrong with the engines.

He should bring out a DD mechanic and have the engines looked at. The mechanic might make a recommendation on props after he has either fixed the engines or said they are running perfect.

I meant 6-71 in general not knowing what the "N" stood for. But thanks for the input. I believe it's worth him swapping them to see the results.

I had a 1982 42 ocean with J&T 6-71's
Ocean spect the boat with 24 x 27. J&T cut the props to 23 x 27
I know it's not the same boat. But the motors should turn 2350 under load 2550 no load.
I believe they cut an 1" off my prop to get the full rpm's.
