This warms my heart.

I can't wait till it all implodes. The pocket telephones, talking cars, all of it.

It's going to be fantastic!!

Nothing left to do, but smile, smile, smile....

A new way to advertise! The commercial actually places the order. Haha. Don't go to sleep with the TV on. You may wake up to all kinds of orders.

I'm gonna start spamming people with a video clip that orders stuff and sends it to my address.

I'm sure this will evolve to where one will be able to add a customizable word to unlock certain functions, or some similar scheme. Right off the bat, I believe you can change Echo to use a different name than Alexa, and that probably would have avoided the TV scenario. I forget what the other one is.

At this point Echo looks like a great toy, and it's fine to let it control lights, play music, tell you the weather etc. However, I would not be putting it in control of door locks or purchases just yet. Let the beta testers (who don't know they are beta testers) find the gotchas in those capabilities.

I don't think I'd be welcome at any friend's house that has Google Home. Apparently I have a twisted sense of humor that they wouldn't like saved in perpetuity. Naturally, I would turn my phone off first.

"Okay, Google. Two girls one cup video. Go"
"Okay, Google. Search most successful ways to cheat on income taxes"
"Okay, Google. Search best lies for hiding a mistress from my wife"

A restaurant I go to often has one on the bar that the owner is very proud of. I think I'm going to say "Alexa order me some crotchless panties and a dilldo" next time I am there.

I'm still a bit wary of the fact that Alexa listens 24/7. Not sure I'm comfortable with that kind of invasion of privacy.

Privacy is going out of style. Shame on us.

If you elect to have the device you're choosing to give up your privacy.

We have one. It now gets unplugged when not listening to music.

You can turn off voice command ordering.

There are multiple "names" you can select.

In the end, it's a cool toy that's not worth the privacy risk.

One of the anchors this morning on GMA was messing with it. He kept on saying "Alexa" more than he had to when reporting the story.

Currently, Alexa doesn’t have a voice recognition system to identify whether the speaker is an authorized user. When it comes to a children pursuing their desires, however, there may not be any system secure enough. Just last month, another 6-year-old placed her sleeping mother’s thumb on a smartphone, confirming an order for $250 in Pokémon toys.

I heard Glenn Beck today on the radio. They were talking about how "Alexa" and "Ok, Google" would be the personal assistant for the masses.

Glenn, "Ok, Google. Order some paper towels."
His co-hosts said, "Great, Glenn. Every 'Ok, Google' machine in earshot just ordered paper towels."
