Standing up from my seat at the table when a female (of any age) returned to the table. My 16-yo son does this and it freaks his friends out....they've never seen it before.

This one is HUGE for me, and now with 4 kids under 6, they are learning the respect of elders. I say yes ma'am and no ma'am to anyone, regardless of age, I'm 38, as will they. If and when they don't, it's the same as if they would have slapped me in the face. I find this is a big quality to have in small children, sets the parameters early. 4 and 5 year olds have it down pat, 19 month old is getting there. All three say please and thank you as well.

In general, I just liked it better when the U.S. wasn't so materialistic and impatient. It seems like we have more and enjoy it less. Or maybe it's just me.

General civility such as someone letting you out in traffic, saying thank you when you hold the door for them, cashiers that actually address you when you make a purchase rather than stand there closed mouth or B.S.ing with another employee. Asshats not accelerating to cut you off when you indicate (with a turn signal) that you need to change lanes, the lack of use of turn signals. I miss a society that had a little more concern for their fellow man. Now it "all about me". There's a lot more but I started getting pissed off.

TV without LBGTQ etc being thrown at you all the time. Also the language and censorship or lack thereof. I guess I am a big MeTV fan. Although I would like to see Barney bang Aunt B

Doing business with a look in the eye and a handshake. Hard to trust anyone anymore without a lawyer and a contract.

As a child in Chicago ,we were brought up catholic(best friends were from Mississippi-duck hill),so
things were simple .I miss that. But I have to say moving to Tennessee 22years ago.,I really got back a lot of the NICE things in life.Folks down south are quieter, kinder, more laid back, good manners, not rude, stop on a major hey to let a funeral pass, when it's going the opposite direction
.Kinda like going back to the 60's culturally, and I like it.Reckon I was born in the north to die in the south.
All the best!

Like many have said, I too miss the civility and manners that were required of us in earlier generations.

I miss the time when people interacted with the world, rather than living with their noses stuck in a device. I love a lot of things technology has done for us, but I think it has done a lot of damage to society as well.

And I miss the times when the goal was to work and earn your way up. Gone is the idea of work, save, buy - replaced by finance it and live beyond your means today.

Sipping the cream off the top of a glass bottle of milk

Respect for each other. Includes being polite

.29c gas

Reclaimed oil in those tall glass bottles

Amoco gas stamps, 67 Mustang give a way

Collecting coins and stamps

Sitting around playing cards, Monopoly or Risk

Original Dam Quick spinning reels. Nothing felt as smooth, not even a Mitchell 300

Watching Annette on the Mickey Mouse Club show

Back seat at the drive-in

Smell of mosquito repellent coil burning on the dash

3 condoms for .50

Getting stopped drunk by the local law and sent home instead of to jail
