Default JFC - What is it going to take ??????????

for this country to pass a law about texting and driving?

JFC - just got back from driving to Lowe`s to pick up my order and the freak`n people on the phones while driving is freak`n amazing. I hate to say it, but most were tourists. This guy I came up on was driving 35 mph in a 55 mph. I almost got rear ended because of this dumbass.
I guess the body count is not high enough for our gooberment to enact a law yet.

Be careful out there while driving. People are more interested with what's on the phone instead of what's in front of their vehicle.

To me the laws are a pathetic joke!!!!!!!

I read an article that said the amount of deaths associated to cell phone use and texting has well exceeded ALL the deaths EVER associated with drinking and driving since records have been kept. Sickening really it is!

A friend was telling me the cops in Toronto are riding the city transit (buses, trolley cars) to spy on (to bust) drivers using their cell phones while driving. Now I don't agree with the police tactics but I know something Must be done.

Personally I think the fines should be equal to that of impaired driving at the very least.

People are just so stupid.
If you are looking at your phone, you are not driving.
When I am behind the wheel, my phone is ignored.

It's the era of the "Me", me, me" people, you, myself and the next person just don't count.

That's what so scary with these dumbasses. They seem to think they are doing nothing wrong when they are actually endangering everybody`s lives around them.

If someone threatens your life by talking on their cell phone while driving, can you legally shoot them in self defense? Inquiring minds want to know.

I have mixed feelings about extra laws. I feel like we have too many as it is. I do think there should be some sort of aggregation/additional penalty if you cause a wreck while distracted, from anything, not just a phone and I think it should be severe. And fwiw, I got creamed by a dipshit texter so I am well aware of the dangers.

THAT ... is an excellent question. I would like to know if I have any legal standing on this. You have to add texting as well.

maybe make it where others can take pics of them driving and using the phone and get a ticket if someone sends it in to the authorities.

they are just rolling the dice that a cop will not see them , so it is ok in their mind

You can't fix "Dumb" even when the State passes a law.

California has a law that when it's raining, one must have their head lights on. I've seen LEO cruisers driving w/o their lights on while it's raining.

Effective Jan. 1st, phones can not be held while driving...yeah right .

I would happily add texting.

If it became legal to shoot a distracted driver, that would put an end to the problem, pronto.

Police report: "A car was found crashed near the mall. The driver had been shot. Police determined the driver was using a cell phone at the time of death, recorded this as a justifiable homicide and closed the case."

My wife is from England, and they do have laws about any type of phone usage while driving. Her brother tells us all the time about the busts with this law. He said over all, it seems to be working.

What drives me crazy is it takes one person on their cell phone texting or talking to the point they are oblivious to traffic around them while they are in the fast lane. Then, the next sum bitch pulls up behind him and sits there either on THEIR phone or just oblivious to the lack of speed and the huge gap in front of car one. And then another and another to the point that everyone just seems happy to be casually moving along with nothing better to do.

Then you pass them in the slow lane and they look at you like your a jackass...

Drives me nutz...

Usually a Honda CRV or prius owner...

I still think we need to start a company that reports texting drivers to the state. Camera on the left, camera on the right, and a camera in front to drop in behind them and take a photo of the tag. Take a photo of them texting and push a button and the onboard computer sends the pics and tag info to the state. State sends a ticket and we get a commission. And, it wouldn't have to be a full time job. We could just do it on road trips when we would be driving anyway. We could make millions. Anybody in for an IPO?

I would guess that most states already have a statute that prohibits distracted driving.

No need for the Politicians to grandstand and create yet another law they are not going to enforce.

How about enforcing what we already have on the books ?

I would jump on that job in a heartbeat. But, of course, the only down fall would be me having to text the info to the office.

Oh no, I already have it figured out. It would be a little remote where you don't have to take your eyes off the road. Left button = left camera. Same with the right and front button. Then another button to send it in. Kinda like driving on Brail. But then again, these idiots are like they are driving on Brail anyway so maybe it wouldn't work.

So in addition to the idiots talking and texting, you'd also have idiots taking pictures.
