Default Question for those that have to attend Continuing Ed classes

I have to get credit for so many hours of Income Tax every year and I also have a couple other things I do for my Teen Driving School

Just curious if others see this but seems EVERY class has some of the same type of folks in it

1-The ONE person that sits and asks question after question and gets WAY OFF topic . Normally this person sits right on the front row

2-The person that gets up every 30 minutes to go out in lobby and talk on cell phone for 30 minutes

3-The person that WANTS to hear their self talk and is ALWAYS talking about the "issues THEY always have in their practice/business . Normally this one is sitting near person type # 1

4-Always seems you have that ONE guy that tries to talk to people near him and has one of those voices that can not do it quietly . Almost sounds like drone of an engine with dual exhaust

5-Seems always have that one person that thinks THEY KNOW MORE than the speaker and want everyone to know that and thinks the "the powers that be" really gives a crap about how THEY would do things if it were UP TO THEM . Always has ALL the anwers too . Also wants to ARUGE WITH EVERY THING (wasting time )

6-Sometimes end up a table with a person that wants to sit and talk about everything to you while the instructor is talking

Boy I know I am in a bitching mood but we had a room full of these yesterday and today . 4 more hours and I am OUT OF HERE

I know right.

I always give the evil eye and tell people don't ask any questions so we can get outta here faster.

I always sit with the cool people in the way back and mostly play candy crush

Oh and slingtv/amazon prime videos too

You need to be the one who's the sleepy type that snores in class.

Absolutely spot on assessment of any assemblage of adult students I have ever been in.
I've never seen it in writing, but it needs to be attached to every syllabus...

DON"T BE THIS GUY!!!
(list)
Well done!

Sounds about right. My least favorite is the person who asks very specific questions about wildly implausible scenarios and expect real answers. They are the jackasses who keep you from getting out early.

Good luck with 4 hours; said person, in my experience, usually delays the class at least a half hour or more advising the class of their vast wealth of experiences and opinions. What I don't understand is how the instructors seem to distribute primarily one to each class??

This is why I take all my CPE online. Every once in a while I'll attend a live class, but it better be a subject I'm really interested in.

And those know it all's asking questions, it's the only time they can get attention from normal human beings. And yes, it's the same ones every time.

Thanks a lot for this...Makes me dread the rest of the year.

Have 26 hours to endure next week. 900 bucks. Tax update plus ethics.

Have 40 so far this year...I got a little behind on my 120. Still ought to have 34 or so more by end of January. It's a big old money making scam.

I did bang out a 10 hour CPE online a couple weeks ago on Quickbooks. Took my 1.5 hours.

Have to renew my license every two years, CE classes required. Thankfully we do most of them online.

There are a couple that are required to be done in person though. The last one I did was supposed to be three "classes" in one day, running from 8:00 to 4:00. The instructor came in and announced his granddaughter had a collegiate tennis match that afternoon and if we didn't ask any questions, we would be out by 1:00. Let me tell you... not a peep was heard. I was getting back into my car at 12:15! Easiest 12 credits ever! The guy was actually very entertaining too.
Still have 12 credits to get by the end of February.

Had an online ethics class to renew in November and ended up late. They actually took roll every hour, requiring you to answer. The speaker lost me when she advised that it was ethical to pay for the chips a bum shoplifted instead of calling the po po

Wife just had to take her appraiser's CE. Classes were out of date, instructor said that FLorida Real Estate Commission has so many regs that they can't update the clases, add classes.

I found it refreshing that one of the CE Providers in my profession (dentistry) said that some CE could be better. He also said that some CE can actually not be good information and hurt your striving for excellence in the profession.

Of course this CE provider is one of the very popular ones and his information is pretty much great stuff. It has helped me a lot.

So in summary, some CE is not so good or even really bad, and other CE can be good to great.
