Default Virtual Reality Glasses for kids - recommendations?

My 10 yr old wants virtual reality glasses for Christmas, something that connects to an I phone?

I have zero knowledge on this subject. Can anyone suggest some options?

To my knowledge Apple doesn't make a VR headset for iPhones. I know Samsung has one for their phones and so does Google for their new Pixel phone.

Does he have a PlayStation 4? Is so, this could be an option, https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ex...laystation-vr/

Other options are the Oculus https://www3.oculus.com/en-us/rift/

and

HTC Vive https://www.vive.com/us/

Other then those, I wouldn't spend my hard earned money on any other brands/manufactures that state "VR" headset.

A quick google search showed me this: http://www.wareable.com/vr/best-ipho...-reality-setup

Seems there are third party headsets for Iphones, I just never heard of them. You'll notice that some are just a headset to hold your phone in front of your face.

Thanks.

Although I have a Samsung, he won't get to use it very much.

We have an Xbox One.

I don't think we are prepared to spend $600 or $800 on VR glasses for my 10 yr old.

I am thinking of something a lot less sophisticated, oh an cheaper, with emphasis on " a lot." .

I think he was thinking something along these lines. Not really true VR I suppose.

wouldn't bother with real VR right now as its still in its 1st gen of adoption

you just need a cheap set and download VR apps from the app store.

I've got the Shinecon VR2.0 from ebay for under $15 shipped

great stuff for watching movies on Airplanes, I looked like the dumbest/smartest guy on the plane

the VR content is mostly gimmicky stuff, nothing too immersive

Welp my research has lead to consider the FreeFly or Homido, both it seems are the top performers in this segment. .

Based on the reviews I've read and field of vision I am going with the FreeFly Beyond.

Here's a comparison review for anyone interested.
