This is going to be a long project using the best parts I can buy when they are on sale. If it takes me a year, so be it.
I highly recommend Kart barrels. They also have a drop in. If you have the ability or a gunsmith buddy, don't do the drop in. Do a fitted barrel. Such a better end product.

a LOT easier than trying to F around and circumvent the law
my freedom is worth a LOT more to me than to get busted with an ILLEGAL firearm If I want to do BATF paperwork it will be for an SBR or suppressor ;-)
My appoligies if I offended you, I didn't buy my kit to circumvent any law. I did it to have the experiance of doing the work. As far as I know it is not illegel to have an unregistered completed "home built" 80%, but i'll be checking on it.

And to Cracker, please take my comments on glock's as good natured ribbing, I would not question your opinion in such matters.

I guess there is a "loophole" that allows it but the officer that stops you may not be amused

They even have 80 % Glock "clones"

It's not loophole.
And maybe the officer will be better educated on the subject than you.

There is no loophole. You can build your own firearm, period. You cannot sell it or give it away. You cannot have someone else machine it for you. 100% legal to finish your own 80% receiver.

It's not a loophole... Jesus, wear an aluminum foil hat much?

It's perfectly legal to finish an 80% lower and not register it.

Why are you Glock guys always like that? LOL

Full disclosure: I'm most partial to Ruger but have a whole slew of other stuff too. No Glocks though.

I have always liked ruger. Everything they sell is the best bang for your buck. Trying to get my hands on the new LCP II

I think I am going to trade/sell an expensive browning for a .270 ruger american rifle.

Damn it. Why do you want to do that to me? I haven't done
Anything to mine since I picked up the frame and slide. How do you like the extended slide release?

Not sure if that's going to stay

Parts source = going through local gunsmith's parts bins and picking out what i need

a lot of this is hit or miss ... going to go to a "GI" hammer as the one in the photo hits the "braver tail"

my eyes are bloodshot from all the u tube videos ...

Thanks for asking :-)

I'm in! I don't get much time right now to build my own so over the years I have been collecting Ed Browns. I would love to build my own!

I'll play...... I finally finished mine up. Lots more work and fitting than I anticipated. After all of the fitting and filing, I had to polish up the areas with the tool marks which led to polished areas and matte areas on the gun. I just went ahead and gave the entire gun a mild polish to make it uniform. Took it to the range with no sights to verify function. This pic is at 10 yrds- NO sights. A few other guys there took a look at the gun and I explained my project. Let the guys shoot the gun and they were impressed at the function of the weapon. Of all my 1911s, I can honestly say this is the best shooting one of them all. Now I'm ready to hear about Tommy's.
