Default Ring Doorbell.. User Experience?

Looking at picking up a ring doorbell to install at our new home. I have read the mixed reviews online and want to hear from anyone on here who has one.

Do you pay the additional for cloud storage? Is there a delay in the video vs real time? Does it pick up people dropping off packages?

It would be very obviious for a Burglar to spot.

I installed one when we built the house and it has been in use for about a month now. We do not pay for the extra storage. It has about a 2-3 second delay notifying me of movement in the front yard. I think i moved the perimeter from 30 ft to 15 ft because it was picking up too much movement (cars, dogs, cats, etc etc going down our street). Yes it will alert you when someone is dropping off a package. I read the reviews and was unsure about it but i has been very pleased so far.

I was looking at these the other day, actually. Buddy has Vivint, I think, and spotted a guy walking his dog in a hoodie come up to his door and check to see if it was locked.

Default Ring

I love ours. We both travel quite a bit on business, so its nice to be able to keep an eye on things.
We live in a nice neighborhood but I also like the fact that if I'm out of town my wife does not have to go to the door if she doesn't want to.
We pay for the cloud storage, i think its $30 a year. One of the best 'gadgets; that Ive bought for the price.

If spotted from a distance, the perp goes elsewhere, and if spotted up close, maybe they don't try anything?

Wouldn't that be a good thing?

Do you have to buy a monthly subscription? How much? What can't you do if you don't buy cloud storage?

I LOVE it, my 89 yr old MIL lives with us and can't remember to not answer the door, both my wife and I get text alerts immediately and can talk to anyone that's there, it's motion activated, I get a lot of false alarms when it's windy, have landscaping that will trigger it. I think it's the best $200 I've spent on the house. Still have am alarm system and want to add security cameras but this thing is excellent

Doug,
Is yours the Ring Doorbell? Thinking about installing one is your hardwired to the doorbell button wires?

Ours is hardwired where the doorbell would have been (if that makes any sense).

Default Ring

You can hardwire or just use the battery version with audible ring boxes plugged in anywhere in your house.

I have 4 - two at the Denver house, two on Cozumel, in addition to security cameras at both. I love talking to people who ring the doorbell in Denver, while drinking a margarita in Mexico! I could set up my cameras to text me when they detect movement, but the Rings now do that just fine. Happy with the devices. If it ever gets stolen, they will send you another.

If you don't buy the $3 monthly subscription you can not go back into time to look at any events, you can only see live events.
