Default Mattresses

I'm in need of a new mattress, in fact in a couple of days I won't even have a mattress.

In the past 7 - 8 months I've purchased two high end defective Sealy mattress and now they are dumping me as a customer. They have straight out told us/ me NOT to buy another Sealy mattress and if I do there will be zero warranty.

So if I don't buy another mattress in a few days I'll be sleeping on the recliner or the floor....actually in the tent sounds more appealing.

I have ZERO interest in a memory foam mattress (they kill my back in no time at all) and I am really leary on Hybrid mattress (because of all that foam).

We've always bought the best Sealy, Sterta, Kingsdown mattress, but man do they have shitty ratings these days. I would like a a mattress with mini coil on pocket coils in a firm mattress.

So what say you guys, what mattress makes you feel like a king every night you lay yourself down to sleep?

Get a good, firm, non pillow top mattress (I have Simmons BeautyRest at my beach house) and put a 2 inch GOOD (name brand like Serta or Simmons or tempurpedic) memory foam topper on it. I have this set up on all my beds at my beach place and everyone who stays there says it is the best sleep they've ever gotten. Plenty of support but comfy.

Last time we shopped we went everywhere and tried every conceivable type of mattress. Some up to 4-5K. Last stop was a chain mattress store. We laid on one of the cheapest mattress they had - no pillow top, extremely hard, turned and looked at each other and smiled. Think it was $700! Good luck in your search, we couldn't be happier! (Drug one all the way here to Cozumel!)

Yeah I think I paid like $400 a piece for each of mine. Got them from a warehouse/outlet store.

We recently went with the Consumer Reports #1 hybrid - the Sealy Posturepedic "Kelburn" from Mattress Firm. It was about $1300 for a King if I recall and we are happy with it.

Note: it is called "Cobalt" at places other than Mattress Firm.

Went through a number of high end (4k?) mattresses and a memory foam one.

Sleep number, without any pad or foam or fluff toppers. First week I kind of missed that top inch of stuff, but then you never look back. Change the firmness to what you like, doesn't get matted down, back hasn't felt better... had it now for 5 years, as good as new.

Amazing mattress but not really a firm mattress as it is advertised. It is one of the best soft firms there is though hands down.

I would say try a Firm Tempur, if you have not your only hurting yourself not giving it a shot. Best warranty in the industry as well.

They are all junk. We have Stearns and Foster and paid out the nose. We have firm or extra firm but it doesn't matter because the pillow top sucks as it sags a few inches or more. Recommend no pillow top. This is the 2nd time we have had the pillow and top and the last....

I guess you didn't know, they are made by Sealy. "Supposedly" Stearns & Foster is Sealy's top of the line mattress - yet compared to Sealy mattresses they have a lower quality rating.

But I must say, the hybrid Stearns & Foster mattress that I've laid in are serious comfy.

Ok............, but what are you using at your own personal bed where you normally sleep?

Consider a water bed, most comfortable ride out there.

Another strearns and foster fan.
It was $2,500 but I'm still back pain free and still very happy with it 10 years later .

I've never heard of anybody being banned from buying a mattress, but what was the claimed defect?

Believe it or not, I'm still sleeping on a Simmons Beautyrest World Class Exceptionale Cotswold Luxury Firm king that I bought about 16 years ago. It was pretty expensive but is still as comfortable now as it was on night one. I can't remember the coil count on that thing, but it weighs a friggin ton.

I did buy a Serta queen (can't remember the model name) for my 5th wheel camper about three years ago that's very comfortable as well. Not sure how long it will hold up, but it was only around $500 or so with memory foam, gel, and all sorts of high tech crap. Just bought the mattress with no box springs as it sets on a pedestal with storage underneath.

If you have any kind of pillow top at all, you don't have a firm and were sold the wrong bed.

Sterns makes a true firm and it is firm, it has NO pillow top.
