Default Forward seating

I see people in the for sale section say they don't like forward seating all the time. It's a requirement for my fiancee and I don't think I'd want a boat without it regardless. It's nice to stand on fishing and netting bait. Plus it's a comfortable place to ride. What say the crowd?

If family was considered, a dual console would be my choice. As it is, I have a WA and a CC. Everytime we go out, I can assure you that I'm going to hear about how nice it would be to have forward seating.

Forward seating only serves as a place for the women folk to gravitate towards, and then use as a bully pulpit to bitch about the ride.

You could have a couch with reclining footrests and a massage function at the rear of the boat, and they will still only consider sitting up front.....and bitching about the ride.

Just sold my old boat.....and bought one with more forward seating. Granted, the old one only had forward seating.

Rear seating is more comfy but front seating generally allows more people to gather. We utilize forward seating a lot in my family but I don't beat people up or run real fast, generally 22 to 25 mph... My Sailfish 2360 CC fits the bill

I am not hard core fisherman but mine still fishes we'll, never an issue. I never understood the big hang up about no forward seating crowd. As far as the bean bag seating option it is comfy but generally you can't see over the side of the boat, so that suxs...

Cracker hit the nail on the head! Both offshore boats I had, my wife refused to use the bean bags although they were comfy, just for the simple fact that she couldn't see over the sides. Now that I have a bay boat, everybody loves the bean bags when we are island hopping or heading to grab a bite to eat.

My GF doesnt bitch... if she did she wouldn't be my GF. I have done the hardcore up before dawn guys hardcore fishing trips and multidays. At this point in my life i enjoy my pretty partner and her friends on the bow. If we fish a little great.

So for my new to me boat forward seating and a potty was a must.

It really depends on how much hard core fishing you are doing? Only you can answer that.

All the women that typically end up on my boat are spoiled by being on pontoons too much. Their expectation is that any ride more rough/wet than a pontoon going at slow speeds is too rough. They don't understand the physics of why this doesn't work on a mono-hull, or the realities of why sometimes it matters how fast you are going.....ie going from one end of the lake to the other.

Yes, I am keeping my man card, but I love riding in the front of our DC. .

The problem is that most of the time I don't have anyone else who really wants to be the pilot so it's up to me.

I had forward seating in my last Cape Horn 31XS. I went back and forth before the purchase of the boat. A lot of hard core fishing guys want to make it sound like if you get a boat with forward seating you are a lesser person. I can say after having the boat for over a year and a half it was great. I wouldn't change a thing.

The forward seating on the CH31XS provided more storage space but the most important thing is it made it super easy for us to use every inch of the whole boat. In big center consoles it is a pain in the ass to work the anchor or to use the front of the boat for sight casting or getting up on the bow to throw a net.

The front seating on the 31XS made it just two steps and you were standing on the bow over the anchor locker.

People that were on the boat were constantly going up to the bow and back and forth with no problem.

On the times where we would cruise (and I had 14 people on my boat at one time) everyone had a seat. The front bow had cushions we could move off or on depending if we were fishing or cruising. It really made it truly a more versatile boat having forward seating.

Don't let hard core fishing guys diss on forward seating. It serves a purpose and for how I used my boat fishing 50% and then cruising 50% it was great. If all you did was fished, where you are 90% fish and 10% cruise then ok, don't get forward seating.

That's my take on it. Cheers.

My CC has forward seating. I love to fish, but, am by no means..."hard core"....I like having the forward seating for sand bars, anchoring out, goofing off....To each their own, but, I will always have a Forward Seating...Just my 2 cents...

I think the forward seating makes the boat so much more well rounded. In my case I don't think boats in the 20-22' range really fit the bill for a hardcore fisherman anyway. We can use the cc from everything from river cruising with a boat load to running 20+ miles offshore with a couple buddies. I vote for forward seating. Plus I have used the front seats to sight cast tons of times.

I like the idea of more storage and the extra height I can get when standing in the bow. It would be hard for me to get a boat without forward seating.

I agree, it makes cast netting bait, so much easier..

Wouldn't buy a non FS boat.

Also, not a hardcore angler either. The view is almost always better on a FS vs a non FS....

I love FS and wouldnt consider a boat without it. Great for the family, more storage, easier access to gunnels, windlass, better for cast netting and it doesnt affect my fishing at all. If fighting a big fish I can walk him to the side of the boat and I like the better vision when you stand on the forward seats.

Personally hate forward seating on a CC - its basically useless offshore.
