Had a top fabricator who called the stuff "creme LANDFILL". Very porous and grainy. Muck of it is filled with filler to make it smooth. Be careful. The slab should be filled top and bottom.

Fairly common material used at bathroom vanities. As with anything there are different grades. Keep them sealed and clean up whatever you drop on them (shaving cream, toothpaste, perfume, makeup...) sooner than later and they will last. Also, the honed finish will be more forgiving with stains and appearance as it is not a high polished finish that shows any imperfection and water spots.

I would not recommend crema marfil. VERY soft, stains easy, just from water, scratches VERY easy and breaks easy. Installed tons of it in Florida, though back in the 90's.
