Default I-95 Favorite Food Stops

Just in time for snowbirds. Can't believe I'm going to help y'all out

We make a trip on 95 a few times a year and always into checking out different places to grab a bite so I thought this might be a fun thread.

On the way up we stopped at Big Boys Original Smokehouse. Really, really good! I'm not typically a mustard based BBQ fan but their mustard sauce is excellent (They have tomato base as well) along with everything I tried with the exception of the collards. They weren't bad, just nothing special.

On the way back we ate at Green Papaya Thai in Jax. I thought the food was excellent and well cooked. No overdone rubbery chicken or seafood and the prices quite fair. $20 for the seafood plate loaded with scallops, calamari, shrimp, mussels and veggies. I wish we had Thai like this around home. https://m.yelp.com/biz/green-papaya-...e-jacksonville

What are your guys favorites? I love home in the walk places like Big Boys where they make awesome food in an old mini strip mall next to a gas station and aren't pretentious.

For good southern comfort food and some awesome BBQ take exit 5 in Hardeeville, SC right next to the Speedway truck stop there is a little hole in the wall called The Chicken Lickin' Hickory House... You will usually smell the hickory smoke as soon as you step out of the car... I usually get the ribs but just about everything there is really good and they have a very unique BBQ sauce that they make in house... I will think of a few more here in a little bit since I run this route all of the time...

Krystal in Brunswick GA, buy em by the bagful, an hour later I'm asking my self, why did I do that.. They taste good when you have them once a year, road food.
I used to make a special stop for cracker barrel meat loaf. They changed something, it's not the same, I don't get it anymore.

Cracker Barrel pot roast. As close to a home cooked meal on the road.

Cracker Barrel is the food of my youth--since I grew up where they were founded. That's exactly what my family cooked like--and I crave vegetables.

Last time I had the meat loaf, it was just great. Sometimes the local chefs make some minor changes in preperation.

If I eat a good meal on a road trip, in 30 minutes I'd fall asleep and wreck.

Beef jerky and a bag of apples for me.

Also a jar of pickled jalapenos. Start to get sleepy, munch one of those down. Nobody has ever fallen asleep driving with a jalapeno in their mouth.

25 years ago we would get all you can eat rock shrimp for $12. We'd eat for hours. Those days are gone and the rock shrimp have gotten smaller and darker. Still a neat place for seafood, but it's expensive now.
