Default House just broke into 2 hours ago while I was home!!!!!!!!!!!.

Fu#$ing thieves coming through a blown out French door at the back of the house while I approached them less than 15 feet away.

Wife and I watching a movie in the man cave when I heard a loud and I mean farking loud explosion and the sound of what I thought could be ice flying across the hardwood floor in the kitchen directly above where we were sitting.

Within a half second I was pretty sure what I was dealing with as I was racing up the stairs and as I opened the door to the kitchen the 1st perp head down stepping over glass when I said "I will catch you" and followed him out the door over the glass around the back of the house and down the street. the 2 of them out ran me in a few hundred yards into another part of the subdivision around a corner where I gave up since I had no backup.

Police just left after a couple hours of using tracking dogs to a spot they felt they had a car or truck waiting.

Not shook up like the wife right now just fu#$ing PISSED.

Glad you're both safe. Any idea what they were after?

Glad you and your wife are okay, but not sure I agree with confronting burglars unarmed. We could have just been easily reading about you and your wife in the papers tomorrow.

Thanks

Hard to say. I know that lil f^%k that had his head down was more than surprised when he saw me. Didn't hear his exact words but he said something - I believe to the other punk as he was bout facing and heading out.

I cannot believe someone would be that brash to haul a 6lb field stone through my French door at 8 pm at night with such force careening off my dining table and leaving a huge dent in the edge/corner of my refrigerator door and not think someone would hear it in the neighbor hood.

WTF

Me agree 100% after the fact. Sh!t happened so fast and to tell you the truth I really wasn't thinking bout that at 1st when I was racing up the stairs.

Had we been trapped in the basement calling the cops would have been high on the list while getting the safety of my semi auto's in the off position.

Wow. Glad you're alright.

Sucks tho. It rattles feeling secure to the core. I know it did when it happened to me and I wasn't even there.

This is why law abiding citizens need to have assault weapons.

20 minutes before that I was out getting the movie we were watching when it occurred. Makes me feel like shart if I would not have been here and would have happened while only the wife was here.

Thinking about a security service, cameras, a dog and more fire power available throughout the house.

Magua, you are all hyped up on adrenaline right now. You are doubting yourself, wondering about this and that and the other thing.

Truth is, you done good! You done great! The bad guys got into your house, but you and your wife are just fine. You fought back and won. Great job!

Sure, go ahead and be more prepared for the next time. But, when you look back at tonight, know that you started out waaaaay behind the 8 ball, but you ended up victorious. Go to sleep tonight with a smile on your face.

PS I don't give a shit about your glass door or your dining table or the dent in your stupid fridge. You and your wife are what matter most and both of you are champions right now. Take a huuuuge swallow of your fave liquor, then go to bed. And don't be surprised if your wife treats you like a big ol' stud for the rest of the weekend.

if you have real French doors (IE the ones that both open with nothing in the middle) those are only slightly less attractive to criminals than an old style sliding glass door you probably need to upgrade those

and "more firepower" is great as long as you are vigilant about making sure it is easily accessible to you and yours while more importantly not at all accessible to "them"

I would also go over recent activities that might clue in why your home was targeted.....were you the one hauling 2 big screens and a PC and a gun out of walmart the other day for someone to "observe" and mark you as a target

everyone needs to remember "tis the season" and that "season" is the one where those that are freed from the encumbrances of such trivial things like having a job to put food on the table and a roof over their head and to pay for their sail foan are also now free to drive around your area look to see who has boxes for expensive new items sitting out for the trash or who has a beautiful Christmas tree in the window with tons of cutely wrapped boxes under it

or free to sit in the store parking lot and take down license plates and or follow people home walking out with desirable items

this might have nothing to do with you were targeted it can (and sometimes is) completely random, but often times it is not

and remember after you open all your big screen boxes and computer boxes and new gun boxes make sure to put them on the trash pile in front of your liberal gun hating neighbors house halfway or more down the block when they are not looking

Someone breaking into my house while we are home would rank at the top of my "I hope this never happens to me!"

If you had a gun in your hand is there any time that you would have shot them?

Great question Russ. I don't want to shoot anyone.... I mean, I REALLY don't want to shoot anyone but I'd be afraid for my life and most importantly in fear for my family's lives.

I think I'd shoot and not think twice about it.

Magua, glad you are OK. Crazy situation that we can all learn from for sure. What say you to Russ' question?

Glad you are OK. It is one thing to let them know you are home and even saying your armed whether you are or are not. Very poor idea to chase these guys, you were lucky..I do it professionally and I have A LOT more safety tools and buddies to come help if needed and mobile bite units.. GLAD Y'ALL ARE OK but terrible idea to chase..
