Default Samsung appliances...any thoughts or experiences? I

am replacing fridge, gas range, dw and microwave. They look good, great features, good prices. Just concerned about the quality. I do see more than a few negative reviews but seems every site has an agenda. Just looking some first hand experiences from fellow THT'ers.

I just looked up reviews on a Samsung fridge for the folks (seemed like a doorbuster at Lowe's for $1,000)....too many bad things said for the appliance I was looking at so not considering that line anymore.

Somewhat expected that though since it was relatively inexpensive.

Had a Samsung microwave for a while (not inexpensive) and it shit the bed pretty quickly.

Quick edit: Went to Consumer reports and out of 137 French Door style, there were about 35 higher than the Samsung model at Lowe's that I checked, so upper middle of the road.

That being said, CR's highest rated in that style was a Samsung though, RF28HDEDPWW .

Several of my bud's have Samsung fridges, no complaints. Oldest about five years, still young.

I took a chance as I wanted a counter depth fridge for the house I just built. Samsung had one that was not sky-high price. It has been in service about 3months, no complaints. Beer nice and cold, icemaker works great. I did not get a door ice/water dispenser, I think those are silly. And problematic.

Here's what I went with after silly-crazy-deep research:

Fridge: LG. They get the best reviews over and over and over. I absolutely love our new counter-depth fridge. Not the cheapest, but great for our needs.

Dishwashers: Bosche. The "they don't dry well" comments are BS. Mine dries great.

Ranges: I'm probably not a good one for this since I bought an American Range that cost more than my first car.

Microwave: Sharp drawer. A lot of money for a microwave, but it's the most even-heating microwave I have ever used in my life.

Hood: Broan with an in-line blower. Not cheap, but terrific.

HTH.

I made the mistake of going for the Samsung 4-piece stainless steel kitchen set about 3 years ago. Refrigerator had to be replaced twice. Disappointed in their customer service as well.

My brother works in appliances department at Lowes and said for the money Frigidaire is the best name overall. Lots of complaints about Samsung. Wish I wouldn't have bought Samsung.

I have Samsung stove. Control circuit died just before warranty expired. Had a small runaround with their customer service. They were showing that the warranty had expired. I found my paperwork with the delivery and install date and had two weeks warranty left. They did replace the control unit and I'm glad they did. It was Almost what I paid for the unit. Look up complaints about that model. The control board failure was that models number one complaint.

Bought a Samsung refrig five years ago. First complaint was when you went to get ice there was about a five second delay before it acknowledged you pressed the dispense button. And that was just a noise of it getting ice ready to drop. VERY aggravating not to have it start almost instantly.

And after five years the temp sensor went nuts. Display showed the freezer at 0 degrees but the ice inside was melting! Same on the refrigerator side. Showed 39 deg and things were spoiling.

We dumped it rather than put $500+ into it for repairs after five years for a LG counter depth and couldn't like it more. Great dispensers for ice and water, french door style with pull out freezer. Supposedly about the same cu ft as the Samsung but lots more usable room.

Don't buy Samsung appliances.

I have a 2 year old Samsung fridge and this is the only complaint I have as well. We have a Samsung gas range too and it has been fine. Both appliances are of good quality.

Jags hit the nail on the head. The ice maker is a serious disappointment. It is noisy, slow and doesn't have enough capacity, and that's for just two of us in the household. The only reason I bought the Samsung is that it was the only make I could find that came close to fitting into our cabinet space.

We had a 2yr old Samsung refrigerator biggest POS it would freeze up on the back panel and we would have to empty the fridge and defrost it ditched it I believe there is a lawsuit against it for that issue.

Kitchen aid makes nice stuff and it's made in the USA I just ordered my mom a new dishwasher it's a whirlpool which whirlpool also owns kitchen aid and they still use a heating element to dry the dishes.

I HATED our dishwasher. It dried like crap and lasted all of about five years. It always cleaned like crap and the last couple of months was making a horrible racket. I spent time ams money trying to fix it and just bought a GE that had great reviews. It doesn't seem to hold as many dishes as the Samsung but man, that thing is whisper quiet. I had to put my ear up to it to check if it was really running. And dishes are coming out clean and mostly dry.

Never agin Samsung. And, don't get me started on Kitchen Aid.

What did you have issues with with kitchen aid I ordered a kitchen aid dishwasher but canceled it because my mom wanted the rack on the door to hold the silverware and whirlpool is the only one that has that.I went to order it buy can't get it until January it's the gold series which got good reviews online it still has heat to dry dishes and has the jets that face forward to clean the dishes.

Well I know of one person in my family that has had issues with their fridge. Another person in the family who had the inner glass on the oven door shatter for no apparent reason on their relatively new range. Like their LCD TVs, appliances not so much.
