Default Glass in oven door shattered.

Yesterday after my wife was done cooking 2 turkeys we heard a loud pop but didn't know where it came from. Found out it was the inner glass of the oven door that shattered. The oven was off at the time so we have no clue why it shattered? We have had the stove since 2007 and use it all the time with no problems.

Any ideas why? Thermal shock maybe?

Power down the water heater and open faucets, in an hour check closet floor temp, if its not hot anymore that's why it broke. When you replace the stove make sure to wire it overhead for easier repair next time.

Temperature is a factor, but usually a small crack is started by the door being closed with a pot handle not fully into the oven. Cast iron pans are the worst.

That happened to me. Oh wait, that was the time my 17 year old daughter threw her car keys at her 15 year old brother. Never mind.

Oven doors are easy to replace. Pick one up at a used appliance dealership.

http://www.partselect.com

Have had good luck with this company for appliance parts. The glass should be very easy to replace if you can find the part.

I liked the Aretha song too Russ, but you had it way too loud. Moderation.
