Default Great Thanksgiving day memory, G.W.B in Iraq

You might disagree with him politically, but there was no doubt that he loved our fighting men and women.

I was there that night. Flew in some "VIP" types and entourage.

Interesting note...no 747 Air Force One for that trip.

Also...

Didn't get to eat

But had some midnight-chow leftovers with my crew that night

You hit the nail square on the head, agree or disagree with him politically, his patriotism was unquestionable. He also had more class and decorum in his little finger than the barry and moochelle combined

I thought I saw a documentary where Air Force 1 pilot talked about the mission. They used a fake tail number for the flight plan and identified themselves as a Gulfstrean not AF1.

I don't know about any documentary, just what I saw that night.

It's possible they found somewhere to hide the 747...

Changing aircraft and using fake call signs is a tactic employed by the Secret Service, although President Bush's Thanksgiving trip in 2003 was done aboard a traditional 747 Air Force One.

On at least one trip over hostile countries, a certain president flew on a Gulfstream while the press pool flew in a traditional 747 Air Force One. The press as bait for MANPADS? I am okay with that.
