2nd grade, early release, didn't know why all the teachers were sobbing, was relieved when I found out why because the town where I grew up (Aiken,SC) was gonna be the first to get nuked if the balloon went up. Scary decade.

One of my earliest memories at 4 years old. My grandparents lived next door and my grandmother and my mother were sitting in the living room talking when my grandfather called and said to turn the tv on.

I remember JFK Jr. saluting the funeral procession and thinking that it was the most natural and proper thing to do, then I too saluted.

I was at school too. I don't recall if we got to go home early or not but I remember watching TV with my family. Bad day for America.

On a DEW line radar site north of the arctic circle. We immediately went on full alert when the news came in. Even got issued live ammo to stand guard with. The radar observer guys went nuts looking for incoming.

Especially if you ignore the adultery and drug use.
I was talking about his politics not personal life. He would not recognize his party today.

9th grade in Mrs. Wallaces math class. Ironically, right across the Indian River from what would be Kennedy Space Center.

I was a starting middle linebacker on defense, and right guard on offense. Had just started putting my pads on for practice. Our last game was played on Thanksgiving Day. Coach called us over, announced what had happened in Dallas. Practice cancelled.

An Ugly day.

Same here, except Most Holy Redeemer school in Buffalo. Teacher was wearing a two-tone purple dress, with long black hair. 3rd seat back in first row against the wall. Teacher came in crying, said "the President was just shot". They sent us all home.

Amazing how some things just stick with you.
