Default My son fired his first Javelin today.

As some may remember, I posted that my son joined the Marines a while back. Well, he finished boot camp and went to IBT in North Carolina. His MOS is 0352, which is anti-tank Missile man. The top two scoring Marines were chosen from his platoon to live fire Javelin missiles today. I asked him how was it? His response: Awesome! Seems like just the other day he shot his first .22 pistol.

For anyone not familiar with the Javelin:

That's cool as hell! I'd love to fire one too!

25 years ago I was 11Bc2 in the US Army which was infantryman trained in anti-armor. Back then we fired the M47 Dragon. I got to live fire one and I remember thinking "I hope this damn thing doesn't simply explode on my shoulder", lol!

Safe journey's to you son, he'll never regret his service, I sure don't.

He feels the same way but will do his job without hesitation if called.

Yeah, that sounds like late eighties background music, haha. Looks like they had some punch.

Awesome. Tax dollars well spent in my opinion. God bless your son and his fellow soldiers!

Yep. $80,000 each. I asked if they used a test model, but he said this was the real deal. It had been carried through Afghanistan. I'm guessing they rotate stock and use the older ones for training, but not sure. He said this was a short chip shot at 1000 meters...straight down on the tank turret

edward: The Russians have the T-14 but apparently there are issues with them.

I don't think our military has a better friend than Sebastian Junger.
