Not confident enough in the secondary market right now - or said another way, I couldn't swing that loss comfortably :)

I hear ya. Itís an investment. No chance you take a loss on that. I could easily flip that for a $500-$750 profit.

Would be extremely tempting not to open it though.

And therein lies the problem with the bourbon industry...

Good grief.. $3,000 for PVW 20! No bourbon is worth that... and yes, Iíve drank more than my share of the 20.
Id be willing to bet that you could put Old Crow in a PVW bottle and 95% of the clowns that would pay $3k for it, wouldnít know the difference.

No chance? What about when all the hipsters decide they like gin now; and nobody is drinking bourbon anymore?

Bourbon is cyclical, when do we think this bubble will pop?

Jeffersonís definitely my favorite. I really liked Voyage 15.
I have yet to crack my 16.
For myself the Voyages taste better than the Reserve and about $15 more a bottle here in NY.
Perfect gift right there, for a Bourbon drinker!

Tried Angels Envy for first time. Seemed very easy drinking like Eagle Rare. Good to have in hand for someone who wants to try Bourbon. Couple of them, not bad, then finished the nite w Elijah Craig.

When Bending the elbow w Bourbon: For me its.............
Always naked in a Glen Carin glass, if possible. If not, then in a rocks glass w/ the smallest piece of ice even if its a shaved piece.
If im at a bar i ask for a cube and a knife. I throw the cube in a napkin, give it a hit and grab the smallest piece.
My recipe.

I bought a new one on a whim. It's made in NC. It's supposed to be all about locally sourced grain, ect. The distillery is Southern Star and it's their Standard High Rye Straight Bourbon Whiskey. Anyone had it? It's pretty new. I will let you know what I think when I get a chance to open it up.

Started watching Justified which is a pretty bourbon soaked show and in my quest to be more like Raylen, started trying out different bourbons with this thread as a guide.
Just got a bottle of Angels Envy and really like it.
Also like Buffalo Trace and received a recent gift of Breckenridge Bourbon from Colorado which is pretty good.

Im not a Rye drinker but can only think it will be good. Most everything from HH is. And Basil Hayden bourbon is boringly fantastic.

It was pretty good. 90 proof but very smooth. Not too much rye. If you are in NC, don't be afraid to try this one.

Walgreens near me had a bottle of Michters' small batch marked down from $43 to $32 this week. My only problem with it is both times I've tried Michters I didn't like it much so I had to go with the Eagle Rare again for $29. Had to walk past the Larceny for $24 to do it. I really want to find some Willett Family Reserve or George T. Stagg that doesn't need a mortgage.

Also picked up some Nolet's Dry Gin that was marked down from $40 to $29. That place gets me every time.
