I liked batch one a lot...batch two wasn't quite as good to me. Still not sure where it's sourced from, if you read up on it, it seems to be a lot of speculation. The rumor is it was distilled by Four Roses but nobody has ever confirmed that.

I have searched online and not found any options even for purchase and shipping. Eneryplace I have looked says out of stock or unavailable on almost everything. Is it just that I am a newcomer and don't know where to look?
Facebook, bourbon secondary market. Get ready to pay dearly for that Stagg. I think going rate is around 500.

edit: what michters are you looking for? If SWFL is completely dry of the whole brand; I'd be glad to ship you some of the common stuff that I can find easily at cost+shipping.

It's another bottle that is really a lot better after its had a chance to breathe. For the money, I think its a solid pour if you are into high proof fire water. Don't judge it by the first pour out of the bottle.

Thank you Kenny, very nice of you to offer! I am just learning about bourbons since I got remarried. One of my new step-sons is a big fan, and every Christmas he gets me a gift of something he thinks is special (on the order of Bookers, Bakers, one year it was a Birthday Bourbon, etc), but he is in Calif. and I only see him once a year.

As to the Michter's, I have a beginners palate and would ask for recommendations on what to get. I am afraid that the 10 year old may be beyond my ability to appreciate, but I would be willing to give it a try. What do you think and what is available?

Guess I may have to finally get a Facebook account, I have refused because (1) I am not usually a joiner and (2) I dislike intrusive and tracking technology. But for this purpose, guess all they would deduce is that I am a boozer.

Cheers to Tuesday night!!

A nice high proof rye on a crisp night. It’s like desert in a glass-straight pancakes and syrup with a bad ass punchy spicy finish. Keeps you coming back for more!

The 10 year may also be beyond your abilities to FIND in the wild too. However, I know where one is sitting right now at $180 and could probably have them hold it for me. If you like the Booker's you might be past the entry level/low proof stuff already, but there is really no right or wrong way to figure out what you like. Turns out I favor wheated bourbons and find myself going back to Weller 107 regularly.... which is good because it's cheap and mostly available in my area.

I've amassed a collection of bottles I just don't want to go back to (most are very young bourbons), so I'm going to play around with one of these. Small barrels age much faster, so I'm going to let some ride through the temp swings of spring/summer and see what happens.

Depending on which release, $180 might be on the steep side for Michters 10. I have seen the 2018's go for as low as $150 on the secondary market.

It is.... Should be about 135. But if it was 135 it would be on my shelf, not the store's....

then you should also try knob creek since it's the same basic juice when they go into the barrels, so the flavor profile is very similar -- but it's "only" 100 proof and aged a bit longer than booker's

i hold knob creek and booker's mostly responsible for whiskey addiction over the last 20 years.

also dont sleep on jim beam black if you want a nice $20 bottle.

none of the wellers (aside from the BTAC) were over $40 just 5 years ago. i wouldn't pay a dime more than that for them today.

No, It's the W12 1.75 that they want $239 for. That's 51 bucks after tax at any other store when you can find it. This place is doing what we call "gouging the customer" and I think it's despicable. That 1.75 was behind the counter with my name on it. I failed to ask before driving over there how much it was. 260 for a 50 dollar bottle??..... GFY

Nope, the BT was 29 like it should've been, but it's on the shelf everywhere around here.

They had Blantons at 200, Elmer T Lee at 400, Eagle Rare at 115, and a handful of others. The prices were well above secondary, so I don't know who's paying for this crap, but it's obviously working for them.

I'm 99% sure they're buying secondary then marking it up because they had 7 or 8 bottles of Blanton's. All were different dump dates and letters. Maybe their only way of selling anything BT. Oklahoma is crooked and has basically allowed distributors to monopolize certain distilleries. So if this guy pissed off his distributor; and they won't do business anymore, then it's their only way of carrying any BT juice.

I was a little peeved because I drove out of my way for the W12 (it's near impossible in my area) only to find it marked up 5x. I told them what I thought....... "yea we hear it every day......It's just supply and demand"

Gosh, I am clearly in way over my head on this, but have the Knob Creek in addition to Bookers, Blade & Bow, & Yellow Roses Single Barrel. I have just ordered Noah's Mill, Eagle Rare 10yr and Buffalo Trace. So I can survive the winter just in case we are snowed in here in SW Florida - that's my story to the wife.

Kenny, I will email you to coordinate $ specifics, and try the MIchter's. Great and friendly offer, thank you. Hopefully I don't choke about the price when I go to taste it. I am usually a thrifty guy.
