My go to is Bulleit rye for old fashioned and Manhattans. Have had Angels envy (ok), Bulleit 10 year (good), knob creek (ok) and Coursair triple smoke (not my thing).

Just picked up some Blanton's at the local grocery store for $45, seems like that is always available here In CA. Looking forward to trying some of the suggestions here.

Ha ha ha, so I'm not the only one. Drank a pint of Jack Daniels during the first half (with time to spare) of a football game when I was in college, and then pounded beer for the 2nd half. Didn't get sick, but couldn't drink dark liquor until I was in my mid 40's, the smell of bourbon turned my stomach for decades.

Now, I really like the Bulliet 10 year and enjoy trying different makes.

I'm not an expensive bourbon connoisseur usually so I'm not the best taste tester. But I really really like it.

Was around $250 a year ago. If you are serious I'll call distillery tomorrow- they are 30 minutes from me.

Talked to some of my buddies in my Bourbon Group who know my taste and they all say I'll think it's too Oaky. They all tell me the Barrel Proof is the stuff to get but I can't find it around. me.

Thanks so much for the offer!

Do you ever see Old Forrester Birthday Bourbon on the shelves around you? Or any other the other stuff we can't get around here?

If anyone can get their hands on High West A Midwinter's Night Dram please shoot me a PM if willing to ship. Will PayPal or send check.

Had a Calumet Farm over one (large) cube last night. Nothing special. A little thin and high rye content added too much spice (for my taste). I was definitely suckered by the bottle. This one becomes a mixer and not a neat/single cube sipper until the bottle's gone.

Will do....I have one bottle coming, but I'll be on the lookout for a second.

Thank you!

Headed to my parent's in Boca Raton for the holiday and plan to canvas the local liquor stores to see if I can find anything interesting. Total Wine always a good stop - I need Antica Formula vermouth and some bitters - the HellaBitters Ginger is really amazing combined with Aromatic for a little extra kick in a Manhattan. Their Citrus is good as well.

I meant to look around for you last weekend but ended up working all weekend so I didn't make it to the store. I'll probably end up there Friday or Saturday- I'll text you a few options if you want. The biggest/best liquor store in town is 1 block from my hotel. That's both a blessing and a curse

I need to buy a gift for a bourbon enthusiast.

Is there a "unique," or not mainstream bottle that you all would recommend. Lets keep it under $100.

all of the unique and non mainstream bottles are hard to find.

I would recommend High West Bou-Rye (make sure you don't get "Son of Bou-Rye)
Or Jefferson's Ocean.

1792 tonight for pre Thanksgiving.

Picked up bottle of Elijah Craig today

OurSomeday 11-23-2016 04:44 PM

Second Jeffersons Ocean for very good flavor, fairly unique, saltwater/boating tie in, and reasonable price for a non-mainstream bourbon.

It should be available locally if you look around, but if not it is always available at my local store so PM me if you want it and can't find it.

What 1792 and what Elijah Craig? I'm partial to most of the Elijah series, the 12 year is especially good flavor/value imo.

I picked up my Thanksgiving tradition bottle today...
Wild Turkey 101 in a plastic fifth.

Tradition has it empty by about 8 pm on Thanksgiving night, and the wife drives home.

the problem with a lot (but not all) of the "unique" bourbon in that $100 range is that it's mostly marketing hype. make sure you have your phone handy and google any bottle that you've never heard of. there's a lot of new distilleries trying to cash in on this latest bourbon craze.

in my mind, you can NEVER go wrong with booker's. it's almost always available (I think a lot of guys get scared off by barrel proof whiskey) and at ~$55 it's a great bourbon package in a cool wooden box.

Quite possibly the single best, or top three bottles of booze I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. It's not my bottle but a the friend that owns it shared it with me and I shared my George T. Stagg with him...That was yesterday's lunch

If anyone sees a bottle around, PLEASE PM ME!!!!!

Additionally, I opened my OFBB last night and was disappointed. Not sure if it was me and my pallet blown to pieces, the fact that I couldn't even breathe because I was so stuffed or because the bottle needs to breathe a bit....or all the above LOL. Gonna give it 30 days and try it again.

I really liked the Stagg. Will have to keep my eye out for that Booker's. That sounds like an awesome lunch combination.

Picked up an Elijah Craig for Thanksgiving. My first try. Not really crazy about it. It was very smooth, but has almost a candy like sweetness to it. I added ice and then it was alright. I normally don't use ice.
