Default Have to brag about my daughter

The past 2.5 years have been very tough on my 23 year old daughter. It started with her mom passing away during her junior year at UF. When she graduated, she didn't get into any of the Master's programs she applied to. She had decent grades, around 3.45gpa but the programs she was interested in are very competitive. She switched tracks and moved to the DC area last year and worked retail while trying to figure out a new path. She came up with a new plan, but didn't get accepted into that program up there either.

This August she moved back to FL with a new plan. After all the prior setbacks, she applied for and got a new job which was a "win", and today she was accepted into a dual program consisting of a Masters in Health Sciences and Digital Medical Sonography at Nova Southeastern U.

2 big wins for her after a lot of shi* over the past couple of years. I'm super pumped for her, and she was in tears when she called to tell me the news. She's a really good kid and has been working hard to find her way.

Good for her for sticking with it despite the disappointments.

Congrats to you and your daughter! Sometimes they just have to bounce around a little bit before they find a path that right for them. I know it happened with my daughter. My wife and I wondered at times if ours would ever find her way, but once she got into the right (for her) program things straightened right out. I'm sure your daughter will do well. That's a great school down in Davie.

You have every right to be proud of her. She proved that "make it happen" works.

Thanks guys. It's been a tough couple of years. She's grown up a lot but still looks to me for advice and mentoring. Happy dad!

You should be proud as well as she should be as well.

Just a head's up, does the program offer fibroscan training? It's a relatively new technology to test the liver without biopsy. I know a couple technicians that are knocking down some good money because they are fairly rare. Just a thought.

Congratulations to your daughter for persevering and refusing to accept no as the final answer for her dreams and aspirations or letting it set her back! And good on you for your support of her during her trying times. My in-laws lack of support and direction for their children is often apparent when taking to my wife and her siblings.
