Interesting Coastie stop from youtube

while following youtube rabbit hole. guy buys a 19' yamaha boat decides to break it in heads to Bimini with no real plan... then a lengthy Coastie stop

many things but one that jumped out to me is they cook their catch on board with an open flame?!

when you leave the us, say ft lauderdale in a small boat do you in any way clear/check out thru customs?
I know you would have to check in at Bimini, and when you re enter the us?

Man, this video is why they (anyone) needs a camera mounted on a RAM mount to pivot it where you want.
That is too hard to watch.

Not sure that I would have headed out for a long crossing to Bimini with skies looking like that, in a small boat no-less.

His partner was having second thoughts also as he was feeding the fish.

Why the yellow flag flying on the antenna?

I couldn't hear a word, why were they stopped to begin with?

Lets see here they were interrogated by CG Helo by radio. Then By Customs, Then by CG ship. That's a lot of get to know your new boat time. The weather looked a bit on the nasty side or had potential to get nasty. They stayed on the boat for the weekend - not a lot of room to spread out. All in all a decent vacation.

2 guys not afraid of an adventure. I'm sure they had a great time

By THT standards the guy was doing pretty good. He had his EPIRB mounted on his wet suite and looked like he some sort of ditch bag. I did not see a Viking 6 man raft in there but that would be bigger than his boat.
