My friend was at a meeting in Atlanta a few years ago. He and a gentleman in the meeting went out for lunch in my buddy's Porsche 911. He asked him if he'd buy a Ferrari if he could arrange it. The waiting list was 2 1/2 years at that time.

My friend asked how he could do it, and the gentleman said "because I run Ferrari." It was Sergio Marchionne, CEO of FCA and all the Fiat owned companies, including Ferrari.

My friend had his new Ferrari in 6 months, and it didn't go against the Atlanta dealer's yearly allocations.

Come to find out, Mr. Marchionne works in Turin (Torino), Italy when he's in Europe, but he actually lives in Switzerland with his family. He had two Ferrari Enzo's, but totaled one out going to work one day at extremely high speeds. I think since then, he's driven where he needs to go by body guards/professional drivers. He's got a MBA, is a Chartered Accountant and is an attorney in Canada.

I didn't realize preston henn was still alive. I met him many years ago at his home on millionares mile and saw part of his collection. I don't run with money like that, but I was doing service work at his home and he liked me because I was a car guy.

Ferrari likes to keep their special cars for their special clients.....

Poor guy got his feelings hurt and making himself look like an ass...

He should go buy a Lambo and rub in Ferraris face ...:-)

Maybe he got denied because he is an asshole, no?

If they're "sold out", they're sold out, fool!!

Ferrari did go ahead and manufacture a 500th LaFerrari (not the Spider version) which was immediately auctioned and all proceeds were donated to the earthquake victims of central Italy.

Maybe Preston should have filed one these first??

You can't rub a German car into Ferrari's face, not at that level.

Not going to happen.

I believe not being able to hand over your millions of dollars for a Ferrari because there are none of the model you want available would qualify as first world problems.

The T'bird swap shop! A Ft. lauderdale icon. No stranger to controversy, but not an idiot either.

Since it was purchased by Audi it has become one albeit still on the wild side.

I'm exaggerating just wee bit here.

Marchionne is a sharp guy who is turning around the Maserati, Alfa and Fiat brands in a big way.

But look at the free publicity this is bringing to Ferrari! Ewww..they choose who they sell to, makes them more valuable in the eyes of the public. Hell, both Ferrari and the T'bird are getting advertising!!

But he may want to kill Chrysler and Dodge. I think he'd be happy having the C part of FCA being Ram and Jeep.

Or do what Ford did. Seriously they sell all they can build, I doubt if they really care what that guy thinks.
