Default What's everybody deer hunting with this fall?

To piggeyback on Turquoiseblue's thread about where we're deer hunting this year, I thought I'd start one on what we are deer hunting with. Be it a rifle, shotgun, pistol, bow, front stuffer or pick up, share what you're taking to the woods!

For me, I have a new Tikka 6.5x55 Swede topped with a Vortex Diamondback 3x9x40 that I'm going to shoot the first doe I see with! I'm sure I take a few of my other rifles too at some point.

Browning BAR in 25-06, burris black diamond 6.5-20 or Savage american in 7mm-08 with burris LTR 4-10 are my two go to. I may also carry my AR in 300 Blackout with Burris 3-9 for something different.

If I actually get out and hunt, it will be a mix of 3 rifles.

Sako AV 30-06 w/ (old) Leopold Vari-X III 3-9X40. Only in nice weather, and only from stands where there is no chance of scratching it up.

Browning BAR .270 w/ Nikon 4-12x50. All other field hunting not covered by the Sako.

Marlin 336 30-30. All woods hunting. No scope, equipped with Skinner peep sight.

Cutting a track in the snow accounted for an awful lot of big Maine deer and Larry and the gang were darned good at it from what I hear. My gramps and some friends used to have a camp off of Moxie Pond Rd. In the Forks. The bruisers they shot up there in the 60's and 70's would blow modern day deer hunters minds. They hung a 300, or darn near it, off the porch every season
