Default Shooting Feral Hogs with Thermal Scope

Just got back.

Mission was to eliminate non-native species on a large game preserve near Rocksprings, Texas. Mostly Axis deer from neighboring ranches but also feral hogs.

You can't eliminate pigs around here only control their numbers. Trapping doesn't work because they get wise about the traps real quick.

For the PETA types all the meat was harvested and sent to starving children in Somalia.

Awesome...We fled the coast from the storm this past weekend and needed some thermal/IR scope for hogs at buddy's place...no sight of them during the day.

Awesome.

This vegetarian approves.

I just wish I had a place to shoot at. So many new devices, no time or place to play with them. If you you'd like some help out there, I'll donate all my kills to your Somalian friends.

I tell you it's amazing how many landowners let you hunt once they know you have the right equipment! Just gotta knock on doors...

One of my clients has a large dairy farm and they have been pulling their hair out trying to get rid of those things.. He asked me, seriously, if he could write off one for the farm. They bought one and have really taken care of the hogs .

In fact it works so good they have gone to several other farms and done the same thing.

Those damn hogs ain't as stupid as they look, they catch on quick to any kind of trap or daylight hunting

They are even considering going through process to get a silencer for 223 as well

I agree, that is where the infrared scope works, they have no clue you there till the shots ring out

However if I am correct those scopes are about 6500 or so

Would be fun to set up for long-range and try 700 yard head shots and stuff.

Lots of my clients have bad problems with hogs in peanuts. A few hogs can decimate a peanut patch.

$2500 gets you a 1st generation ,the third generation is about $4000.

If this is wrong, someone please let me know where I can find the gen 3 for less than $4000.
