Default Jet Ski Fail

I searched THT and believe this hasn't been posted. Don't know if anyone on the east coast has seen this, Happened earlier this year at wedge in southern california, Just remembered it and thought you guys would enjoy it.

The funniest part of this, is this was a rental and the guy tried to get his security deposit back.

Was out the day prior to this fishing and checking out the waves which were bigger than this with 15-20 ft+ waves. Harbor was occasionally breaking on the sides which people were surfing as well. There was solid 8-10 ft swell out in the ocean but spaced apart pretty far and extremely glassy with zero wind. Reminded me of a lake besides of the sound thumping waves.

you don't mess around with a waverunner at the wedge when it's breaking big. you don't mess around at the wedge at all when it's breaking big, it will eat you for breakfast then spit you right back out.

i'm gonna take a wild guess those people had absolutely no idea what they were doing.

Did they legalize grass in CA? This is easily one of the stupidest things I have ever seen, what were all of those people doing in the water? Lucky no one was killed. The rescue boat captain looked like he knew what he was doing, wish I could say the same for everyone else. California is full of morons, this just proves it.

It takes a special kind of person to want to put themselves into that danger on a daily basis to save the lives of dumbasses. I am not one of those people, but I admire and appreciate those that are....

Never mind the stupidity of the people on the wet bike, how about the giant balls on those 2 lifeguards. It may be their job, but it takes some serious sack to go into whitewater like that with nothing but fins and a rescue can.

Nice to see the wedge is still claiming victims after all these years. You have the "breaking big" part correct. That was one brutal place to surf in the 70's.

Lol, not yet but hopefully soon. Looks like Colorado is making a ton of money off of tax. The people in the water were catching waves. Thats a really slow day at wedge as far as people in the water. Life guards will let the 'Locals" in since they actually know what they're doing, the real issue is the people from out of town think they can swim in massive waves with jeans when they can barely swim in a pool. Theres morons everywhere you go.

Rental company deserves to take a total loss on this - including being sued by their clients.
No reason whatsoever to rent the ski to anyone - including experts - on days like that.

As stated above: Play Stupid Games, Win Stupid Prizes.

I can see that conversation with the insurance company.

Ins Company: How were the ocean conditions?
Rental Company: Not bad, only 10-15' swells breaking just offshorse....
Ins Company: Any you still rented skis to any swinging d!ck with a credit card?
Rental Company: Sure, what's the big deal?

you've never been to the west coast have you. That is a calm day with a reasonable swell. There is minimum wind and a swell that builds up on the wedge, that is why it is a surfing destination. The guys could have gone over the entire ocean as long as they stay out of the breakers next to the jetties and been fine.

You have to try real hard to get into that predicament.

Darwin was right! Some animals should not pass on their genes.
