Default Rant- "add to cart to see special pricing"

I see so many websites (primary arms being one) that advertise "too hot to show price, must ad to cart to see price". What a pain in the ass. I generally just exit the site when I see this stuff as it just pisses me off to no end!!!

Ok, i'm done now :

Most times that is because they are contractually forbidden to advertise below a certain price point.

Yup, it's the retailers way of giving you a nicer price and stay in line with the manufacturers policies.

Sometimes, it's a good thing.

I hate it too.
Along with stores that don't put prices on stuff ! Just tell me what it's going to cost or I'm buying it elsewhere !

Most times I see a hidden price I don't waste my time, usually the price on the things I shop for is not a bargain.

Never saw one where you had to enter your credit card first.

I love it when you add it to the cart and it's only a few bucks off. I agree it pisses me off also.

You have to give your CC # at checkout BEFORE it shows discount. You can still cancel the sale, but it's BS.

It's also a pain for us retailers, I have a small company and online store, certain manufacturers require us to do this step if we want to offer a special price. I just try to offer the best price, and service after the sale that I can. If a site requires a CC to see a price, that seems fishy to me, almost like they know if you go to all that effort you'll hit the buy button.
