Food isn't that great and everything is expensive. If you can get out of city and check out the Swiss alps.

I have been a few times -- business mostly.... or just waiting on flights

Not my favorite city - but its nice .... and so is the surrounding area... Cool lakes

If you have time and like to drive --- head up to the alps - great roads and some amazing places (Zermatt) ...

Also maybe take a train to Munich ,,, lake Konstance , Lucerne .... Freibergh (germany) and the black forest ....

Enjoy

Went to see a Wagner opera last time I was there. Very interesting and enjoyable. As previously stated the Altstadt is a very nice walk and of course the swiss chocolates are always a nice diversion.

I would explore Zurich for a day or two and rent a car and head to Geneva. If you have more spare time and don't mind driving, you can go to Fussen (Germany) which is a very romantic Bavarian village and visit the Neuschwanstein Castle. It is a beautiful drive and you can stop at lake Bodensee and take a ferry tour.

p.s The drive to Fussen crosses into Austria so make sure you get a Vignette as soon as you cross the border. It costs 8.80EUR and can be bought from any gas station.

Spend a lot of money. Had a layover there this summer and due to the cost we limited our time to sleeping in a hotel and flying out.

One more suggestion, if you are a car person, I strongly suggest you go to the Porsche factory and museum in Stuttgart. You have to make a reservation for the factory tour, but it only costs 7EUR and it is incredible! The museum is great as well. Plus you get to drive on the Autobahn....basically a win-win.

I just came back from Munich and the BMW factory tour was the highlight of my trip. I also went to Inglostadt for the Audi factory tour.

Or you can go the other way towards the France/Germany border and explore Strasbourg and Colmar. I could spend a week in Strasbourg. It is a UNESCO world heritage site.

The best chocolate that I have ever had and I've tried just about everything out there. They have a store at the airport.

Don't try this one, you'll be ruined for life.

Fantastic place!

1. Check all your restaurants, hotels and things to do on Trip Advisor! They rule in Europe you won't find any Chucky Cheeses listed as #1 like on Yelp here. Download the App which has a handy little "Near me now button". Use it frequently but be careful on roaming.
2. Rent a bike and explore the lake and city I always start that way to get the low down
3. Take a boat ride across the city to a couple little villages around
4. If you like "original" Football there is a Fifa World Museum there
5. Open top bus tour if weather permits
6. Walk Around the altstad

Have a great time.

in no articular order..
Dinner at the Armory.
Uetliberg trail.. Take the cog train from the main station and walk the ridge. There's scale planets/solar system along the walk. There's a pub everyplace you start getting thirsty. Kinda cool.. Take the cable car down off the ridge and then take a bot back to town.
Lindt chocolate factory tour.
Green door restaurant in old town.
Museum of transport in Lucerne.. Easy train trip. They have a Vincent Black shadow in there (if you're a HST fan) Covered bridge (rebuilt)
And of course.... Get some roasted chestnuts from a street vendor. They are some of the best you'll ever have!

That's the place I referred to as the Armory. Couldn't remember the name. EVERYTHING there is delicious!

If you have time - Lauterbrunnen is worth the trip. About 2 hours from Zurich.
