Over exposure watering down the product. Look at the Thursday night games, a few time a year was fun, now it's just a garbage game which neither team is fully prepared for.

My interest peaked a few years ago. Too much alternative things to do these days and the player drama is getting old too.

The games aren't that good. Plus lots of bad publicity this year. I know at least one friend who refuses to watch the phins due to those guys kneeling.

The refs (and the morons who keep writing new rules) are making it unwatchable.

Yep...the officiating reminds me of WWF.

Mostly attributed to the late great P T Barnum. Something that the TV accountants have forgotten.

Always leave them wanting more.

Not sure what you were watching last year but all of the games except two were very close games.

NFL was great in late 70s early 80s. I lost interest after that first big strike. People who make that much more than me do not have my sympathy.

used to be fun to watch before the players got political. glad i quit watching professional f'ball. watch only college sports now. younger players, better looking cheerleaders, more fun and i get my sunday/funday back for diving fishing. monday and thursday nights can be spent more productively or just hanging with my wife and son. dont miss the NFL at all. im sure they dont miss me either.

The older I get the less I care about the NFL and the more I like college football. Now with the playoffs it is even better!

People (except Pats fans like me) hate watching the Patriots win every year. It's no longer fun for them

The NFL product is not very good anymore.
Example this weekend. Tennessee and Florida college game. There is a buzz going one about that game. If the Titans plays the Jaguars who gives a flip. College rivalries and traditions are what make College football so good. Free agency in the name of parody has ruined the NFL. The $hithead owners, players, and Management sealed the deal.

OP you say viewers are down, however the value of NFL teams and profits are WAY up. Either your info is wrong or there are many other factors at play such as people are viewing online or merchandising is getting more widespread.

I haven't watched much so far this season. We are having a warmer than normal September and I am still wake surfing and riding my motorcycle.

Lost interest when it became political. Those guys are paid millions to be athletes and entertainers in a sport. I don't want to watch a bunch of overpaid drama queens turn their job into a political statement.

I'll stick to college football this year.
