Default What is with the post count here ???

I've been on here alot lately.
Been posting right along .I don't think my post count has gone up in days !
So what's the scoop? Posts only count now if you're posting in certain forums ?
Who's genius was this ?

still 3570 now. I think dockside doesn't count toward your post count any more due to the new rules in the bilge where you have to have so many posts in the up top forums to get privileges in the bilge.

I think I was over 6,000 posts recently. Currently it says 4,894. I guess it would be cool if statistics were actually statistics.

Why does anyone care about their post count? Do you win a prize when you hit a certain number or something? I don't pay any attention to my post count so I wouldn't know if it went down and really don't care.

They only want people/members with actual boating questions, comment, advice and information to be able to post down below. It cuts out members that are just here to cause trouble and start infighting.

Anyone can easily pad their post count here in dockside, you have to have some boating under your belt to post elsewhere.

Russ I couldn't agree more, the only time it does help is when a new member will create a fuss he/she doesn't get much respect. If someone is well established they get cut a break.

It is a way to judge how much time I have wasted here. I can see you have wasted much more though.

That makes some sense. I know we have had some members on THT that do not even have a boat.

I am not IT but my understanding is that the software was not capable/setup to keep track of post counts separately which was needed in order to implement the new Bilge access policy. Going forward members will be required to be a member for a minimum of 90 days and have a minimum post count of 90 in order to access the Bilge. Member's post in Dockside, Captains Club, Bilge, etc will not be counted toward the 90 post minimum and because of the software setup the simplest thing to do is just not count the post in those forums.

Internet Brands, The Hull Truth, and the Moderating Team have no objection to you maintaining a separate count of all your your post on THT and regularly updating that in your signature to more accurately reflect your activity on THT if you would like to do so.

I think what some people in charge here don't realize is that this place (THT) is what it is, not because of the boating forum but because of the site as a WHOLE ( read that again,WHOLE) eliminate all, or most of the forums here and just keep the boating forum. Watch this place go down like a sinking ship.
Don't fix it if it ain't broke.

I tried to adjust the system so that everyone would be suitably impressed but that is apparently above my pay grade.
