Default Laser printer?

We don't do a lot of printing, and when we do print, it's usually a letter or some sort of document. So color is not high on the list.

I've had lots of inkjet printers over the years, and the one thing they all seem to have in common, is the ink drying out, or running out with way fewer pages than they claim you will get. I'm tired of throwing money away on overpriced ink cartridges.

I do have an old (8 or 9 years old) Panasonic laser printer, which still works, but it has no network connector or wifi, and has become inconvenient to use, as we may want to print from any one of a number of tablets or pc's. So I'd like to know if there is a way to make it network compatible, or if not, what might be the better choice of a reliable monochrome, wifi capable laser printer, fax, copier? Any recs?

Brother MFC-L2707DW - B&W duplex (two-sided) printing at 35 ppm, color scanner and fax.
It is fully wi-fi compatible and has a usb in addition to the standard network port.
You can get it for $175 at Amazon.

We have two cheap Lexmark laser printers at work, they have been real workhorses.

Just swapped out an Epson 3620 on my desk at work to a Zerox 3225 and I like it so far, but have only used it for a week. I scan a lot, but it's nice to print a good bit at the desk and not feel too guilty about using so much ink instead of using the one across hall.

Brother or Lexmark. B&W laser printers are fast, cheap and the only thing I use. No need for one with lots of bells and whistles, just buy the cheapest one you can find.

I enjoy a couple of Dell laser printers, no fax or copy function. 1240 is my favorite

Thanks for the replies; keep'em coming.

Does this one look like a decent choice?

or, for $40 more, is this a better choice?

I've used a lot of Linksys Wireless print servers on printers with no network connection. They're less that $20 on ebay.

Thanks, that's interesting option, but I think I will want the copy, scan & fax option on the newer machines.

Mac or PC?

If Mac, stay HP, Epson or Cannon. Drivers for others tend to not get support.

If PC, don't buy on cost of printer, by on cost of cartridges. Printer cost will be nothing in the long run.

I have deployed 1000's of printers and ink and cartridges is where they get you.

PC's, and a Android tablet. I think the high-yield toner cartridge for the one in my first link, is $38 on Amazon. Not sure about the one sold in BJWholesale, but I think it would be similar.
