Default Costa Rica

Planning a trip in January. Not a fishing trip but might try since I will be there. Looking for some "Fun" Anyone have first hand experience of where to stay and what city to stay in.

We went to Monte Verde, Mount Arenal, and some other small town I can't remember. Had great site-seeing trip. Not party destinations if that's what you are looking for.

I would get out of San Jose as fast as possible.

Wife and I spent a week in Tamarindo. Great little town, fantastic beach, fantastic food which was surprisingly inexpensive, as were the drinks.

No idea about the "fun" side though, but I'd guess it can be found.

We stay in Los Suenos. A bit of a haul from the airport, but nice for boating/fishing and all the other stuff you'd want to do.

Enjoy.

JW Marriott, Guanacaste, we were there for 10 days with family. Rent a car & see the many sights. We had a blast & cannot wait to return.

Costa Rica is generally safe. Some sketchy areas in San Jose I would not want to walk in at night but not any worse than any city. During the day very safe anywhere. Taxis are cheap.

Spent 4 days in the Arenal area and 4 days at the Four Seasons on the Papagayo Peninsula. Most beautiful 8 days of my life. Make sure you get the gps in you rental car. Oh and 4 wheel drive.
