Default Am I a Yankee?

I'm going to be visiting NC next week to take a look at the area. I'm from Maryland. Just in case someone asks me while I am down there, am I a Yankee?

Yes. Anything above the NC/VA line is considered a Yankee in NC.

If you're just "visiting" and intend to go back then yes, you're a Yankee. If you buy property and stay then you're a "Damned Yankee"......

Actually, anything north of Richmond is now Yankeeland. Mason-Dixon didn't know what they were doing.

You better be careful, most Yankee's are never seen again when they visit NC.

I guess it could be that they just love the place that much. It is a great place.

Hard to say on that one... The "mid-Atlantic" states baffle some people.

When I moved to Atlanta, people always called me a Yankee. What is really strange is that I have a slight southern accent being from Va (Roanoke, Charlottesville and Fairfax).

Anyways, I asked one of my fellow workers why they considered me a Yankee when I was from Va. He said, "Don't you know anything about the Civil war?"

I guess the GA history books were a little different than those in Va.

A couple of tips:

1) Don't ever refer to "how we do it in MD."
- You can skip this if at your own house, and serving blue crab to guests.....but this is the only reason why.
2) Don't be a d!ck.
3) It is ok to refer to your former life in the north, as long as it is accompanied by lots of cursing the oppressive government and excessive amount of liberals there.

I've been there a hundred times, but I always thought those pretzels were for tourists.

If I move there, I will be bringing my crab STEAMER pot, and it is always fun for me to share a crab feast. I am a little bit of a jerk; it is what it is, and don't worry, the liberals are who I am moving away from.

If you don't know where yonder is and how many folks is y'all, then yes, you're a Yankee.
If you come down here and stay, then you're a damn Yankee.
