Default Louisiana flood victims THT help

After reading the stories of the flooding that has happened I feel the need to help contribute. There are many members on this forum that help in all different ways. I am willing to bet that many are and will be helping for a long time to come with this disaster.

I would like to start by possibly donating my 5th wheel camper to a small family in need of housing chosen by the THT community in the areas hit. I still need to figure out the logistics of it but it is 1125 miles from my house to Baton Rouge. I have a local guy that can deliver the camper but I would have to pay him, I am guessing about $2500.

A few questions I need to ask. Is there a local charity that I can donate the camper to for a tax write off?

Can I ask for donations from the THT community to help offset the delivery cost?

Unfortunately I am very busy at work so I will have limited time to dedicate to this. PM if you like for suggestions or info or post on here.

Bumping this up to the top. I saw a small blurb on our local news that flooding is still occurring. Prayers for Louisiana.

Nice gesture, but I think there are still over 1000 unused FEMA trailers in Arkansas, just sitting, right now.

This rain has moved up to NW LA this week...although not as bad....not nearly....not even close. But if it keeps up, we're going to have problems up here too...although not to the same extent. I might need to go fill my tank up in the Kenner....lol !

I may ease down south this weekend myself to see what I can do. Lots of friends down there.

That's good to know they have some campers stock piled. Hopefully they will have enough.

As an FYI if it's the FEMA trailers and campers in Camden, Ark that I am thinking of, they are worthless.
They have been sitting in an old muddy abandoned airstrip since Katrina. Last I saw of them, they were sunk to the axles in mud.

The story on my 5th wheel. I pulled it out of our campground this spring due to wanting to see different parts of the country instead of the Delaware bay area. My intention was to trade towards a smaller camper that we could tow and take our dogs along. Well this year we flew to Glacier and saw Yellowstone so I didn't want to purchase a camper until I was ready. Fast forward to this weekend and my wife and I decided to go back to the Keys next year. The house we rent is from a member here on THT. The camper is a 1994 Dutchmen 30' 5th wheel that is all weather equipped and has a single slide out. The Ac is about 5 years old and it has an apartment size frig. It has a 25' x 10' screened porch that has a new roof too. To make sure it made it home I even put 4 brand new tires on it. I only have a few pictures that I have found so far. My work has been the busiest I have ever seen so I am limited on time. I've taken 5 days off since I returned from vacation back in July. I took this photo last night while mowing till dark.
