Default Interesting experience today.......

I was returning to Charlotte from Columbia, SC today and saw a pickup truck with a medium sized bass boat on the shoulder of the interstate. I almost didn't stop but something told me to go back.
As I slowly approached the guy and his wife I asked if "we were having fun today" and smiled my best smile. I could tell by the look on his face that he was NOT enjoying the experience. I asked if I could help in any way and the poor wife breaks into tears!!!!!! The husband consoles her and says that everything will be okay and she slowed the sobbing. I looked at what he was doing and as we have discussed on this board a million times, he had the jack and lug wrench from the truck laid out but it wasn't going to work and he knew it.....
He at least had a spare (although it was almost flat also) so we had that going for us. I told him I had the stuff he needed and went to the Tahoe and retrieved my hydraulic jack and folding lug wrench. While he took off the flat I took the spare to the Tahoe and used my little "vibrating" air pump to inflate the spare to 50 psi.
By the time I had inflated the spare he had the flat tire off and was putting it inside the boat. He mounted the spare and started wiping off the jack and lug wrench and asked me how much I wanted for them....... I explained that they weren't for sale but I did tell him where everything came from, including the 12 volt air pump.
The moral of the story is to have what you need, when you need it.......... I felt better when I pulled back on the road...........

Good for you man.

I was riding the scoot Sunday and was almost home and there was a young couple on a Yamaha sitting on the side of the interstate. I held up the "OK?" sign and he just threw his arms in the air. I went down an exit and circled back around. They were out of gas but they were in luck. I only live about a mile from where we were so I called the admiral. She brought some gas and they were on their way.

Psst! Don't tell anybody I helped a Yamaha and I won't tell anybody you helped a bass boat.

I helped a Yamaha :
Dude, at least have the courtsey to lie about what kind of bike it was. Tell us it was a Bourget that ran out of gas after destroying a Honda.

Wow we are not all that bad. 3 weeks ago I was coming home late, 2 AM. COLD night. Saw a guy pushing his truck....Long story short, I drove him home got his gas can ran to the station filled it up and drove him back to the truck. I was cautious at first. You would have thought a gave him a 100 bucks. I felt good too. A deposit to the karma account? Nice job guys!

I don't know about the marriage thing, and I didn't want to bring up THT at that time since he was NOT having a very good day, but he is a boater, he was driving a Chevy truck and the boat had a Merc on the back, so how could I not help?????? ;? ;?
I would like to think that he has learned a lesson about inadequate tools and stopped on his way home and bought the right stuff for "next time"....
Shag, about that Yammie..........

I got the great honor last night of changing a spare using the BS that comes with the truck. I always have the right tools with me, but for some unknown reason I forgot to put them back in my truck while working on something at my uncles house. Luckily I was on a good surface & had my 4 way wrench with me, I don't think the lugs would have come off otherwise.

If you see a Yamaha on the side of the road, go ahead and get a gas can. A Hardly Dangerous?......get a box of parts.

Good going' Bailey
