Lots of good information to be found for a tiny price.

The only thing you miss not being a member is the Sand Bar, and posting on the for sale.

O I'm sorry,,, and you don't get to see everyone else's Avatar...

I could care less about the Sand Bar, more fun when I was a member when you think you have someone figured out and have it set in your mind there one way you SLIDE over there and find out you "SHOW NUFF" didn't have the right vision.
Hooked on pictures ............................................ .

On a lot of different forums. Don't pay for any of them now but its a choice to pay or not. Don't think I have ever run across one that is full,,, PAY TO PLAY.

I'd tip my hat, and ease out the back,,,,,,, Jack...........

I sell all my stuff on Craigslist or I resort to ebay. I have sold pretty much anything worth while on Craigslist in days. I resort to Ebay when I am unable to put a price on something and I dont mind shipping. They also usually have a Yardsale page on facebook you can use to list stuff. There are also other boating forums that allow you to post in the classified sections for free. I have also made a couple of fliers in the past and hung them at the local marinas for sale board and that has been very effective .

To me here is the big problem with selling on the forums because I sold stuff on other forums. Like ebay your going to have to ship a lot of the time. When it comes to selling a vehicle or boats they are just as hard to sell. You are trying to sell something to a group of people who are here because they already have said item. I am not saying they dont sell just saying its a much harder push then by other means. I buy on forums because generally speaking its where you get the best prices because you have a ton of people competing to sell the same or similar products so you see much lower prices then say Craigslist or ebay.

I sold my engine bracket last week and it went in a couple of days and didn't have to ship it.

I laugh every time I see one of those "buy a wheel you cheapskate" posts. I'd venture a guess that ad revenue adds up to more than membership revenue so I'm probably providing more money to the site owners than those who fork over the membership fee.

I honestly don't see the problem with the advertising. I don't feel I'm being bombarded. Hell, it's just a column on the side of my screen. It's not like I have to click through a bunch of crap and wait for interminable loading like those sites that set up slide show type systems.

The way I figure it, between my posts helping others and the ad revenue generated, this site should pay me.

It's worth 15 a year for no ads on this site. It's painfully slow with ads

Not to derail but anything with subscription terms like this website (magazines or really anything) should be paid for on eBay. You can set it up so it doesn't automatically re-subscribe you.

I've tried to pay for a membership three times
Each time Paypal told me to "use another card"
Idiots....Credit card is legit. Chase Visa with $15K available credit.
I don't have another card (that I want to use)

Sent inquiries to mods, asking whaddup?
No response.
So much for trying to get rid of 15 bucks.

It'd eliminate the trolls, limit the exposure of the classified ads, and potentially lessen the advertising and sponsorship value.

I'd pay.. Great group of people here, even if you let a few of us left coasters in from time to time.. lol

I've paid for full functionality at some other sites (like BoatDiesel) or donated to those with no advertising. But so far I haven't seen anything for me personally for the current up-charge options. I'll put up with the ads, and that's my top price of admission for what I do read.

Certainly not calling anyone a cheapskate, just asking a question on how many world pass on THT if in fact it was pay to play across the board(s). I was a non paying member for years, paid in when I felt a moral obligation, sort of I was getting more out then putting in. So now I pay a little to bug all of you with my endless threads.

I don't mean to annoy you all.

I'd pay for this place like buying movie tickets if it meant I was able to keep up with all ya'lls nonsense , shenanigans and tomfoolery. Plus where else can you make yourself feel superior over some else for having a Rav-4, Yeti, Avet reel, Van-Staal pliers, Salt Life decals, Sea Hunt with rusty thru hulls and fish for King fish?
