Was down near there last night in downtown Orlando, about 2 miles away at Lake Eola where a friend lives. Scary for sure. I left there around 11pm. My friend works at ORMC about 2 blocks away. Hospital was on lock down. Latest report from my friend is that it is like a ghost town in downtown Orlando this afternoon. Not many people out. No restricted traffic yet in downtown.

Keep importing them by the tens of thousands and it is only going to get worse. Very sad.

Democrats will focus the conversation on gun control, and the fact that gays were targeted.

So many people killed and injury, truly tragic. Thoughts and prayers to all those affected.

I went to high school with the shooter and my wife lived in the same neighborhood as him growing up.

Crazy world we live in.

Even more people would have been killed in the crossfire. Seriously, every place other than a declared war zone should be a "soft target."

Shooter was an American citizen, born in New York State, whose ex-wife describes him as violent and mentally unstable. And yet he had two gun permits, including a concealed-carry permit. He was was allegedly upset because he saw two men kissing in Miami. This seems to be an overreaction.

His first target was an armed off-duty Orlando Police Department officer working as security.

And let's humanize this, from this story:
Helene Royster said her son had arrived on Friday from New York for a visit. He was on the patio of Pulse having a drink when he heard pop pop pop.

He jumped over the wall and across the street, but two of his friends had gone inside to pay the bill. One was shot three times and the other one is still missing.

I live in Orlando and it's a heart breaking, senseless tragedy. ~50 dead, 50 wounded. No matter the area, region, state or city, this could of happened anywhere. Not sure you could ever prepare for something like this other than carry and defend yourself.

May prayers and condolences be sent to all involved in this senseless crime.

I didn't know him but a few of my friends had classes with him. They said he seemed normal back then.

His ex wife said he used to come home and beat her for not having the laundry done. Divorced in 2011 then married again since and has a child. His father ran for president of Afghanistan in 2015.

But most of the shootings involving Muslims or otherwise here involve folks born in this country. Has nothing to do with "importing anyone."

Sad situation all around. Also, I can understand thinking people should have been armed. I'm all for being able to conceal carry and whatnot, however I don't know if a club where everyone is drinking is one place that I want to be around people with guns. After the off duty officer working security engaged him why should we think a bunch of potentially intoxicated people pulling out guns would have had a better chance at taking the guy out then the sober officer who was specifically there for security.
