Default Hello !

Just found you folks while I was searching for boating advice on Google.
Look like I found the Mother Load of info.

Im a middle aged fat guy, married , and have one kid.

I have been in the plumbing business since 1989.
10 years ago I quit a 15 year career managing a Plumbing Service Company with 70 employees in San Jose California.

Moved my family to Idaho 10 years ago and started a One Man Shop doing plumbing repair and service.
That has consumed my life up until recently.

Im an avid fisherman and have been fishing Saltwater my whole life.
Moving to Idaho has proven to be a challenge to my saltwater fishing skills.

I have owned a half dozen or so boats in my life, but by no means am I an expert on the subject of boating.
I recently bought a 14' SilverLine with a 40 HP Johnson on it.
I have only had it on the water one time and for it's size and age I was very pleased with how she ran.

Now I need to turn it into a fishing machine.
So far i have added a Lowrance Elite 5HDI combo Fishfinder / Chartplotter, Scotty downriggers, bilge pump and rigged it for two battery's , one for the electronics and one for the motor.
I just purchased a Kicker Bracket ,Minn Kota Endura 40 trolling motor and a Bimini Top.
I have yet to get these installed.

Thank you for allowing me to join and for putting up with all the stupid questions I'm going
to ask you all.

I posted a pic on the boat as she looked when I bought it.
I'll post new ones when I finish getting her all rigged up for fishing.

Some nice polish on that prop! Reminds me of when I was a kid, dad had the same O/B, pull start. Man dad would work up a good sweat on that thing some days.

Nice old classic.. Looks like it hasn't seen much use in the past 50 years or so. That looks like a '66 Johnson.

Maybe it's just me, but when I first read the name "Buttfishing" I read buttfisting.

I guess it could be the same thing, just wondering now who fishes for butt?

Nearest lakes to me are " Luck Peak, Arrow Rock, Anderson Ranch and CJ Strike.
Kokanee and Trout are on my menu for eating and Small and Large mouth for fun.

I could see trying to pull start this being a real workout.
Lucky for me it has an electric start.
Boat came with a 2nd brand new prop that I haven't had the time to install yet.

You must not be from San Francisco . There is plenty of butt fishing going on there. lol

For me Butt Fishing = Halibut fishing.

I cant believe how well this 49 year old motor runs.
Starts right up and trolled all day with about 4 gallons of gas.

It is in great shape. I believe the guy I bought it from was the 2nd owner and he kept it in the garage and never used it much..
The motor is a 1967 original that came with the 1967 boat.
