Default file/program association question....

I'm trying to open up a .pps file and keep getting this error message:

"This program does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Create an association in the Folder Options control panel."

I open Control panel..Tools..folder options...File types, and Power point is already there, as is .ppt

How do I create the association it wants? I even re-installed powerpoint.

I've never had a problem with this so may be on the wrong track, but you can also check under the Advanced button there -> check the settings for the Open operation -> should see the path to your Powerpoint executable there and the filename passed as the first (and only) command line arguement. Mine looks like:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\POWERPNT.EXE" "%1"

You can try changing it to another program and the rebbot and then change it back.
