also there's a big difference in the owner hitting the dog and a stranger hit it
Stranger hitting a pitt is self defense

Owner hitting pitt is abuse

One of the assistant's for my vet loves and rescues pits. She has 3-4 at any one time. Even she has had to put 3 down because of they were mentally unstable, impossible to control and dangerous.

Pepper Spray will stop them in their tracks and cause no lasted problems.

And, file report and sue for damages. That labels the dog and next time its ordered put down.

A bat or club will work just fine for any animal. Just don't hit it in the head, First lick is to the leg of the attacker. Break a leg the crap stops! Second lick is to another leg.

Don't use some aluminum crap bat either, a Louisville slugger in the 31-34 inch range will break the hell out of a bone. I doubt any dog will still be attacking anything with two compound fractures.

Agree but damages and maybe some emotional stress but that will not be much and his homeowner insurance will pay. That is the irony, insurance pays for recklessness and dumb.

Glock 21 in .460 Rowland ...if it works on Bears it will work on pits

https://www.460rowland.com/product/j...angerous-game/

This is one tough, 255gr., Hard Cast Lead bullet! With a Brinell hardness of 24, this deadly design delivers deep penetration and holds together when it hits, crushes bone and gristle, resists ricochets and cuts through muscle like a hot knife through butter.

I would rather shoot a pit than sacrifice my forearm and then stab the thing in the belly with a knife. But that's just me, having been under one.

I was attacked by a huge pit when I was 13. Her name was Judy. That was 30 years ago and I can remember everything about it like it was yesterday. Luckily I escaped with only lacerations above my eye and puncture wound on my arm.

I'm also very, very nervous around pits, and they are 100% aware of that. I could be in a crowd of a dozen people and a pit will come right up to me and stare me down.

I look at it this way,I have a right to expect to be able to walk down the street without being attacked by anything or anybody. That goes for my family, friends and pets too. When you know there is a bad area or aggressive animals running loose, naturally you avoid that area in the future, within reason. In other words, don't go looking for trouble. That being said I also carry, all the time and would not hesitate to protect myself,my family, friends,my pet or a total stranger if the need arises.I guess I'm one of those sheepdog types.I was a LEO during the 70's and 80's when Detroit was just starting to see a lot of pitbulls and a lot of officers had been attacked and bitten. The police academy I went to taught that a pitbull coming at you WILL bite the first thing it gets to.They taught to draw your weapon, extend your weak side arm out front and when the pit latched on to shoot it. Turns out that you probably would be better off skipping the latched on part.
