Nice story but it sounds like just that - a story. If it really happened good for them but I don't buy it.

Great story..........

and therin is the challenge.......we can no longer define those that need the help from those that choose to take advantage of the help.

And any attempt to define the two is met with opposition by the left.

The very first thing the new democratic govenor of Louisiana did in office was to remove the law requiring welfare reciepeints to even look for a job......

I have no issue helping others and or paying my fair share, but I sure wished I knew it was going to people like the young lady in this story, over a lazy ass free loader........white OR black

Making up those heartwarming stories is a cottage industry for lonely women sitting around in their bathrobes.

So on the opposite side of the coin, a friend of mine recently started as a bank teller. On his first day a large black woman came to his line in tears, behind her was a strapping 18 year old son - She was in tears because her baby was gonna cash his very own first welfare check...

BTW: Was the girl cute? Does she need a sugar daddy?

I don't know if its true or not........ and i really don't care. The part that got me, which may be untrue in THIS story, but very much true in the U.S, is her son being KIA. And what the family must do to deal with that. I am doing a benefit ride at our local Harley dealer for homeless vets ( Like really..... WE have homeless VETS !!!!!!!!!! ) I can't even believe I have to do such a ride. I can't believe there is such a term as "homeless Vet".......

This story being true or embellished, does not change the fact that WE need to do more for our military. Past and present. This story being true or not, my heart goes out to the families that it IS TRUE for.

Jonathan, I hope it is NOT true. But it sure got me thinking.

There are a few things I take from this story
1) If you don't know the entire story, keep your mouth shut when standing on a line (anywhere)
2) Vets, and families of vets have it WAY to hard
3) You never hear this type of story with a guy running his mouth off to another MAN on the line unless that other man is much older, smaller or just frailer.

The internet has made me a cynic, I don't believe these feel good stories. You never see true humanity all played out like that and recorded.

I just got back from Urgent Care for an infection in the cuticle around my big toe. Gave me some antibiotics, said to soak it every night for a week. If it does not go away then they will have to remove the toenail. If you want to see a grown man cry, follow me to the Dr. next week!

You got that right. the thing that really makes me cry is that we can give billions of dollars to countries that hate us, but we cannot seem to support our Veterans when they come home.

Being dependent on government is a sure path to disappointment. Nothing beats standing up on your own and helping a cause you believe in.

With regards to this countries "Homeless vet population", it has been my experience that somewhere between 40% - 60% in homeless camps I frequent with regularity, choose this option willingly for a variety of reasons.

Drugs and alcohol play a large roll in this as well. To say our vets are treated poorly may be the understatement of biblical proportions in my opinion.

I find that incredibly hard to believe.

When you enlist, the first thing the military does is indoctrinate and train you to be a fighting machine... Is it unreasonable to expect them to reverse the process when the Veterans return home?
