Default Security camera email notification

Long story short, insurance company called me after I paid my bill in full for the year and said they won't cover me for theft since I don't have security cameras in our restaurant. They knew I didn't have them when they quoted us, but now it's an issue now and arguing with them didn't work. So, I ran out that day and bought a night owl 8 camera system at BJ'S for $400. Being that cheap I didn't have high expectations but I figured I would get it set up quickly to make the insurance company happy and then replace it next year with something better. So far I like the picture quality and I love being able to watch what's happening on my phone and tablet. The problem I'm having is there are no instructions included and I can't find anything that explains how to set up the email notification. I tried contacting the company and let's just say customer support is a joke, nobody answers the phone or emails. I searched online and setting the email up seems to be a common problem and I have spent hours trying everything online I can find, nothing works. I'm very close to tearing it out and returning it. Installing all the wiring in the ceiling sucked and I would hate to have to start over with another system. You guys are my last hope, somebody please save me.

As part of the last hope squad, I would recommend that you share a little more information like brand, model, serial number, etc. Absent any of this information, I would suggest that you drink heavily for the next week. At the end of the week, things won't feel so hopeless.

Model number CL 882 720P. I can't even figure out how to watch the recorded video from my tablet. Absolutely amazing that they sell these without any real instructions, the only paper that comes with it tells you how to plug it in.

Have you watched the videos at the website or downloaded the manual?

There is a video on you tube (different model) I don't know if that will help.

Hope this helps.

Sounds like the one I have. The documentation is on that little CD that comes with it. You get 2 big PDFs. One is for the software and one for the hardware. The software one is in the software directory. I think it was actually embedded in the program I agree it has a very steep learning curve and I am just getting to be able to actually see some video. If you don't get it set up right, you either don't get anything or it just runs all the time.

I'll look for the cd, didn't see one in the box. Did you get the email notification to work?

I have the email set up for mine and immediately turned it off. If the wind is blowing the trees, email, mail man, email, guy walking his dog, email. I have the "alerts" saved in the program. I have something like 12,000 right now, that's a lot of e-mails.

That's it, I did everything it says to setup the email but it doesn't work. After searching on the net for several hours I find lots of people who complain that they never get the email set up to work.

I agree with LeeRoy, unless this is inside with nothing that changes, you will be inundated with messages. This thing detects changes in pixels and just about any change will trip a sequence of video.
Someone took a 12 pack out of my outside fridge while I was on vacation and after looking at hours of bugs flying by and leaves moving on a small plant in the corner I decided this was more work than the $10 was worth. I believe if I ever get this set up right it might be a valuable tool but the set up is cumbersome eating up time I am not willing to spend.
I do want to figure this out but I just get frustrated and go do something else.

All my cameras are inside pointing at doors, there shouldn't be anything setting them off accept burglars

I'm pretty sure I did that but I will double check. Thanks for the info.

The one I have, pointed at the door, still triggers if a moth flies by. I have some excellent moth videos

Ask one of the young millenials of college age. If it is doable, they should be able to figure it out in a couple of minutes.
