Default Sturgeon Bay area help

I posted this on the Great Lakes forum but I thought I would try here also.

I'm looking at a vehicle in Sturgeon Bay that I might buy and have shipped back to the gulf coast. Anyone live there that could go put an eye on it for me to make sure the deal is legit? I'm not completely ready yet, but trying to get some ducks in line.

Wow! No one? I'm just looking for a drive by mostly. I've never bought a vehicle from an individual long distance before. I know a lot can go wrong. I only want to make sure he has the vehicle he is advertising.

Beenie,

while I'm not able to directly help, I am a member of a couple Great Lakes fishing forums with members right in the SB area.

I could post a request for help and see what happens.

Shoot me a PM and I'll get started.

Well, a fellow THTer came through with flying colors. The power of this place is always available to all of us. Well, a fellow THTer came through with flying colors. The power of this place is always available to all of us. HANGEYE was making a trip to that area and put his eyes on it for me. I can't thank him enough. A true gentleman. He did get to spend some time looking at all the other vintage vehicles and had a good chat with the owner, so he enjoyed the trip. Thanks again, Doug. What a load off my mind. My wife's birthday present will be on the way soon.

Toby10, thanks to you also.

You peaked my interest. What car did you get her?

Thanks everyone. It is a 1949 Dodge pickup. It's not mint by any means but good to go as is.

You're welcome beanie, glad I could help. Tiara84, if you know other cars guys in that area then I'm guessing you like older vehicles, if so you would have enjoyed visiting this place. Very nice guy with a bunch of really nice old stuff. When he opened the door to the front bay of his shop, there stood a 1953 Chevy P/U, his daily driver. This was the perfect start to a memorable visit as I had a 1952 Chevy 1 ton years ago. After about a 15 minute talk about the old truck we went through another door to the back portion of the building to have a look at the Dodge. When he opened the door, I froze in my tracks. I didn't get an exact count (my eyes were darting around so much that numbers didn't come to mind) but I'm guessing at least 20 cars. 58 Caddie, 59 Caddie, Ford Skyliner hard top/convertible, Lincoln with the suicide doors, Edsel wagon, and more. We went all the way to the back of the shop to look at the Dodge. The red paint job looked like it could use a good buffing but the old truck was very solid. The owner lifted the hood to reveal a pretty little flat head six. I asked him if I could hear it run. He jumped in, pumped the gas pedal a few times (remember those days?) and cranked it up. I'm not a certified mechanic, but I know when things shouldn't knock, rattle or ping. Well this motor sounded like it was brand new. After looking the old Dodge over, we spent the next 45 minutes working our way back to the front of the shop talking about and looking over the rest of his inventory. All said and done, it was a great day for me and I believe beanie and his wife will be very happy with their "NEW" truck. Let me end by saying, THANK YOU beanie. If not for you I wouldn't have had this wonderful experience.

I'm really glad you had a good day and enjoyed yourself. I'd like to spend a day in that shop myself.
As for the pics, my wife doesn't often go in the boat so I have never posted a pic of her in the boat, but I might be able to get some of her with the truck. It's her 50th birthday and there's a SURPRISE party for her. It is not till May 14th so I have time to get the truck here. I only hope she doesn't find out about it. I started planning the party weeks ago. Finger food and Cajun music. How can you go wrong with that?
Again, thanks.

Well, it happened. The party was a big success and everyone had a very good time. When my son pulled up with the truck on a trailer, she was amazed and cried. She REALLY likes it.
I don't have any good pics from the party but I took a few at the in laws house where we took the truck and she was able to drive it up and down the road. She had a huge smile on her face during that ride. It isn't street legal yet because of lights, registration, little things like that.
Here are a couple of pics.
