Default Scam

Received a call today from a person saying he was from Microsoft. Very heavy accent. Seems Microsoft showed people were hacking my computer. I asked him what to do. He said it was technical and he would help me through it. All I had to do was sign on the computer with him and he could fix it. HA HA HA. THEY WILL TRY ANYTHING.

This has been going around for a while.

I haven't received the call yet, but rest assured I will keep the person on the phone for a while pretending to be doing what they want.

This guy almost got my mom a while back, while she was signing on to a site that would have allowed him to access her computer, she wised up when he asked "what OS are you running?"

Well the guy called me about 6 months ago, I knew as soon as he started his spiel , GAME ON
He says "You have a very bad virus on your computer".
me " I KNEW IT GOD D***IT, no WONDER it's so slow"
I then tell him I have to start my computer, it's going to take a while. literally 10 minutes later I say to him...."almost ready now" . 5 minutes later I say ok, what do I do

He says type (some url ) into the address bar and hit enter.
I make like I do, THEN I say "SH!T, it's locked up again, I have to restart the whole damned thing again, and I go through the entire reboot scenario again

Finally I say" ok what was that address?" I make like I type it in and I say "hmmm, that's odd....It's telling me to tell you to go *&%$ yourself" he starts yelling and I start laughing, I took up a good 1/2 hour of his time, I had nothing going on anyway lol

I got this call not too long ago. I am a Microsoft certified IT consultant.

I started laughing at the guy and played along right up to the part where he wanted to connect to my PC. Then I asked if I could reach him through the MS partner network. My company is a Silver partner and I have worked for Gold level before.

He hung up.

I keep blocking their numbers, but they have called 3-4 times. I use to entertain myself by playing along before finally telling them to f*ck off. I cannot believe people fall for their poorly crafted scam.

I hate to admit that someone almost got me for a duke energy scam. If they would have taken a credit card I would be out. Luckily I caught on and we had a ton of fun with him. We put him on speaker at work and ended up having 3 calls that day with him. When it was all over he started cussing and immediately that phone number was shut down. I guess if you sit at home all day and get one sucker its a good living.
