Default RIP Peter Benchley

Sad news that Peter Benchley, author of Jaws passed away. I have to say, I don't know if there's a movie that gets quoted on my boat more than Jaws.

So, in a little shout out to Peter, I figured we could give our favorite Jaws quotes.

The one I like to use with customers and friends (when they come armed for bear)is:
"That's real fancy gear you brought there, Mr. Hooper... don't know what our shark might do with it though... might eat it I suppose."

Wonder if he requested any sea burial?

Hooper: This was no boat accident.

Yes. Been there & done that when a whale decided we were not welcome to share the pod of bait that it, and the tuna we were trying to catch, were dining upon.

I'll never tire of Robert Shaw's ad-lib scene about the Indianapolis.
Great movie.

"You know that was the time I was most frightened. Waitin' for my turn. I'll never put on a lifejacket again. So, eleven hundred men went into the water. 316 men come out, the sharks took the rest, June the 29th, 1945. Anyway, we delivered the bomb."

"We're talkin' Sharkin' NOT pleasure boatin' " My nephews - all in their 30's- come down 1 weekend every summer and stay at my beach house, we play cards, drink , watch Jaws and fish. It wouldn't be the same without that movie. Great way to get away from the pressures of a young family.

I exposed my 8 year son to that movie last July 4. My wife told me not to do it. She has never even seen the whole movie. Fast forward..........we have a pond in our yard that is about a acre. He would not go near it for a week or two. My wife was pissed.

"Hooper drives the boat chief."

That movie coined the phrase "blockbuster", because never before were people lined up for blocks to watch a movie. I rented a DVD with out takes and information such as that.

Smooth sailing Mr. Benchley.

You guys took all the good lines. Robert Shaw, who passed several years ago, was perfect in the part. Anybody ever see him in THE DEEP. What was the tee shirt girls name in that one? Whatta babe.

Quint - "I'll find 'im for three, but I'll catch 'im—and kill 'im—for ten."

Peter Benchley was actually an extra in the film - he played a reporter on the beach.

Anyone who has a boat and goes fishing, 'Jaws' lines are bandied about on just about every trip.

God Bless Peter Benchely for writing a great book that became a great movie, may he rest in peace.
